A couple of inboards on lake Tarawera this week

One with a bad ignition coil causing a crank but no start symptom & another with a failed magnetic clutch pulley causing the bilge pump to not engage.

Today consisted of - upper control arms & lower ball joints on a Ford Ranger, sump gasket & oil change on a Honda CRV, starter motor on a Toyota Wish, and a fuel pump on an old Suzuki Vitara.

Glow plugs on the 3.2L Rangers is never just glow plugs. Intake and EGR components are always caked in soot so are taken for an acid bath before reassembling. Increased intake volume can only do good.

Valve cover gaskets on this Mitsubishi V6, finished off with a complementary headlight polish of course 👍🏼

This vehicle was dropping oil all over this customers drive way, also soaked the starter solenoid in oil causing it to fail so it also got a new starter motor.

Intermittent starting faults on this 2001 Toyota Estima traced back to a faulty ignition switch. When ignition switches are at early stages of failure the ignition barrel arm which engages with and turns the ignition switch doesn’t quite turn it over enough for it to go from ignition on to start mode. Twist it slightly with it still attached to the barrel or remove it and turn it with a screwdriver and it should go straight away.

Callout to diagnose check engine light on this 2011 Impreza . Vehicle started and seemed to be running on 3 out of 4 cylinders, vehicle scanned and found code present relating to a misfire in cylinder 3. Quick narrow down test found that the insulation in the spark plug lead had failed causing the spark to short out to the head. New spark plug leads installed and vehicle is running smoothly again.
