We were pleased to hear Japanese Ambassador Makoto Ōsawa speak at the recent Hydrogen Hui in Christchurch, where our hydrogen fuel cell truck was among the technologies on display.

Thank you to the Embassy of Japan, New Zealand for recognising the people and technologies helping advance hydrogen-powered transport.

We welcome the Government’s $30 million commitment to supporting New Zealand’s hydrogen sector, and appreciate Shane Jones' recognition of the people here in Christchurch turning investment and innovation into real-world vehicles.

Hydrogen has strong potential in heavy transport, particularly for vehicles operating over long distances and with demanding payload requirements.

The GBV-built 50T Prime Mover hydrogen fuel cell truck featured at the Hydrogen Hui demonstrates New Zealand’s capability to engineer and manufacture advanced transport solutions.

It was a pleasure to welcome Hon Cameron Brewer, Minister for Small Business and Manufacturing, and Hon Nicola Grigg, MP for Selwyn and Minister for the Environment, to Global Beacon Ventures.

During their visit, we toured our Rolleston manufacturing facility and discussed GBV’s work developing and manufacturing innovative heavy-vehicle solutions, including hydrogen fuel-cell and battery-electric buses and trucks.

We appreciated the opportunity to showcase our capabilities, our people and the role New Zealand manufacturing can play in the future of lower-emissions transport.

Thank you to Cameron Brewer MP and Nicola Grigg MP for taking the time to visit.

This year’s BCA Conference was held in our very own backyard; Christchurch!

Showcasing our diverse capabilities, we had three buses, two chassis, and a fuel cell on display.

To top it all off, we had our manufacturing supervisors come out to see all the fantastic buses they have built.

We had a fantastic time and we can’t wait for the next one!

Everyone loves a makeover, even buses!

This coach was recently repainted in Johnston’s iconic red and blue wave, and we love the new look.

Originally built in 2018, this coach left our factory sporting a silver paint job and has recently come in for a fresh look!

All this hydrogen talk has gotten us reminiscing about our history with hydrogen!

The Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Prototype was a proof of concept that we explored way back in 2009. Powered by a hydrogen combusting prototype engine which charged batteries to power an electric drive system, this was the penultimate development of our combustion and electric hybrid bus designs.

The concept of hydrogen combustion engines is still being explored today, primarily in the space of motorsport where the raw connection between man and machine is highly sought after.

Here, you can see a rare glimpse of the prototype on a test drive. How far we have come since then!

We made it to the H2 2 Zero summit!

Over the last couple days, our EVP Mike, has been in Wellington to meet all the people working towards an emission free future powered by hydrogen!

Check out the fuel cell we integrated into @‌EmiratesTeamNZ Chase Zero! Pretty cool to see equipment destined for operation on display
