MEET CORY | The man behind Real Steel 🔥
This one goes back a fair way.
Long before there was a Real Steel Customs, there was a little brown-eyed boy with a “Shovelhead Till I’m Dead” T-shirt and a pretty bloody clear idea of what he wanted to do with his life.
At five years old, Cory had already decided that one day he was going to have his own hot rod shop.
And somehow, even back then, I don’t think there was ever much doubt that he’d make it happen.
Cory is a sheet metal worker — or “sheety” — by trade, but his education in cars started long before that. Most of his spare time growing up was spent out in the shed with his dad, soaking up everything he could, watching, helping, learning and figuring out “how”
One of Cory’s greatest strengths is his ability to see something before it exists. He can have a finished idea in his head and then teach himself whatever he needs to create that vision
He is, without question, the most driven person I know. When Cory locks onto something he wants, the vision is almost military. 😂
He holds himself to an incredibly high standard and expects a lot from the people around him too. He doesn’t suffer fools, but if he sees someone who genuinely wants to learn, you’ll see another side of him entirely. He’ll explain, encourage and give them all the time in the world — something he’s definitely learnt from Dave!
And despite the serious face you’ll often see when he’s locked into a job, he loves a good laugh around the workshop and there’s usually plenty of s**t being given.
Just don’t ask him to do anything involving a computer or admin. 😂
That’s apparently what he married me for. 🙄
Outside Real steel - life’s pretty full with our 4 children!
And somehow, he always finds the time to help out friends and family, with their projects. He’s generous with his skills and his time, even when it comes at the expense of what he was meant to be doing for himself.
From all those hours in the shed with his Dad & the idea in the head, of a car mad 5 year old…
To the grown man, walking into that very shop every morning - it turns out, dreams really do come true 🥹
