CAR LICENCE (CLASS 1)
The test fees for most car licence applications will change on 8 July 2024.

If you applied before 8 July 2024...
If you applied for your licence or booked your test online before 8 July, it will still be free to change or rebook your test. You have until 7 October 2024 to pass your test and complete your application. If you haven't passed your test by then, you'll have to start paying the new fees from 8 October 2024.
If you do need to change or cancel your test, please do it as far in advance as possible. Then another person can book the test time.

If you apply from 8 July 2024
If you apply for your licence or book your test online from 8 July 2024, your application fee will include your first test, and a second test if you need it. If you need to sit the test 3 times or more, then you'll need to pay a test fee each time.
If you change, cancel, or rebook your test, you may need to pay a fee.

Do You Know The 5 Give Way Rules?

1. Stop or give way at intersections (stop signs, give way signs, traffic lights plus intersections with no signs called 'uncontrolled intersections')
2. When turning, give way to vehicles that are going straight ahead
3. When turning right, give way to all vehicles coming towards you
4. Give way at T intersections - "Top of the T goes before me" - if the road you are on terminates (bottom of the T), give way to traffic on the continuing road (Top of the T)
5. If none of the other road rules apply, give way to your right.

There's no such thing as "Right of Way"

It's true! There's no such thing as right of way on the roads.

There are times when other vehicles have to give way to you, but that doesn't mean you have the right of way.

It's up to you to avoid a crash whenever you can. You should always be ready to stop, which means extremely good observation and search - especially at intersections.

Look out for other road users who will make a mistake.
