Not a normal day on the Dyno. This Chevy has dual Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor's on it and we couldn't get the jet/needle combination we needed in the Edelbrock jet kit or individually so we needed to machine up our own. Worked perfect and will be back on the road soon.

Lincoln Whiddett’s Mazda BT50 was in the workshop last week for a custom dyno tune — and the results speak for themselves 👌

Factory power was 117kw and 390nm of torque at the wheels. After tuning, we achieved:

✅ 147kw atw
✅ 539nm torque atw

That’s nearly a 40% increase in torque! 💪

This BT50 is still largely factory spec, only fitted with an aftermarket exhaust, showing just how much potential these utes have with the right tune.

More power, more torque, better drivability and towing performance 🔥

Here’s a good example of why regular maintenance is so important on modern diesels 👀

If your engine has done over 100,000km, it’s likely there will be excessive carbon build up in the intake manifold. This example is from a 2014 Toyota Hilux that’s done 178,000km.

Once the manifold was removed from this engine, we found the intake ports had closed up to around HALF their original size 😳

That much restriction can lead to:
• Loss of power
• Poor fuel economy
• Excess smoke
• Rough running and reduced performance

After a full carbon clean, airflow is restored and the engine can breathe properly again 👍

If your diesel spends a lot of time doing short trips, towing, idling, or light use, carbon build-up can accumulate even faster.

🚜 Why regular servicing still matters — even if you don’t use your vehicle often.

This fuel filter came out of a small tractor we recently serviced… and as you can see, it’s well clogged.

The owner doesn’t use the machine very often, which is actually part of the problem. When vehicles sit for long periods, fuel can degrade and contamination (like algae/diesel bug, moisture, and sludge) can build up — eventually blocking filters and causing running issues or breakdowns.

💡 Key takeaway:
Servicing isn’t just about kilometres or hours. Time plays a big role too.

✔️ Replace filters before they become a problem
✔️ Keep fuel systems clean and protected
✔️ Avoid unexpected downtime when you need your machine most

One of our customers came in recently with a Hilux sitting around 11–12 litres per 100km.
Not terrible. But not right either.
After we went through it — diagnostics, tuning, sorting the DPF system — he’s now sitting around 9.5.
Doesn’t sound like much on paper. But do the maths.
At $3.50 a litre, that 2L per 100km saving adds up to roughly $30-$40 a week for someone doing average kms. Over a year? That’s north of $2,000 back in your pocket.
Here’s something most people don’t know: Toyota extended the warranty on the DPF system for affected models to 10 years, unlimited kilometres. That covers the fifth injector, the housing, and related components.
So if your vehicle was built between October 2015 and April 2020, you might still be covered. Worth checking before you spend a cent.
One quick tip: Look at your fifth injector housing. If it’s marked with a ‘D’ or ‘Z’, it’s the updated design. No marking? That’s the original — and that’s the one that causes problems.

Is your classic car running rough, lacking power, smoking, stalling, or surging?
Its common to pick up over 20% more power, and your engine running smoother by tuning your carburetor car on the Dyno. Incorrect ignition timing, fuel mixtures, and vacuum leaks all contribute to your engine working harder than it needs to for every kilometer.
We set it up on the dyno in a controlled environment... air/fuel meter, knock gear, exhaust gas temperature so nothing is guessed and your car gets tuned safely.

Got a Toyota Hilux or Prado? 2015–2020 model? Burning through more diesel than you used to?

White smoke on startup. Dashboard regen warnings you can't explain. Fuel economy that's gone from reasonable to ridiculous.

There's a good chance it's your fifth injector.

These engines have an extra injector that sprays fuel into the exhaust to burn off soot in the DPF. Problem is, carbon builds up around the housing, blocks the fuel flow, and stops the regen from completing. Your DPF clogs, fuel consumption climbs, and eventually you're in limp mode.

If it jams open, it dumps fuel into the exhaust constantly. That's the white smoke — and that's where your fuel bill disappears.

We've seen vehicles go from 13–18 litres per 100km back down to 8–9 once it's sorted. At $4+ a litre, you can do the maths.
