Friday at Tasman Canvas. 👌

Hardly working? Hard to tell. 😄

While Rowan's taking a moment to put his feet up, there's still plenty happening around the workshop. Projects being finished, orders being sorted, and plans already underway for next week's jobs.

After 25 years in business, he's earned the right to look this relaxed.

The thing is, good craftsmanship isn't about rushing around looking busy. It's about experience, knowing your trade, and getting the job done properly.

That's what Tasman Canvas has been doing in Motueka since 2000. Custom projects, quality workmanship, and a team that genuinely enjoys what they do.

A recent custom project made here at Tasman Canvas 👌

These custom strop bags were created for Project Jonah New Zealand, proudly donated by Whale Watch Kaikoura, to support volunteer Marine Mammal Medics during whale and dolphin strandings.

Designed to be worn while rescuers are waist-deep in the water, the bags safely hold and organise rescue strops so they’re always close at hand when needed most. They’re built to handle harsh marine conditions while allowing volunteers to move freely and work safely in the surf.

Projects like these are a good reminder that canvas work can go far beyond covers and awnings. Sometimes it’s about creating practical gear that supports important work out in the real world.

Strong, durable, and custom-made right here in Tasman.

Big boss man Rowan out helping customers today 👌

A lot of what we do starts with a conversation, talking through ideas, finding practical solutions, and figuring out what’ll work best for the space and the people using it.

That’s one thing we’ve always enjoyed about custom work. Every project’s a little different, and so are the people behind them.

Custom made. Right here in Motueka. 👌

This was a particularly cool marine project completed by Emma down at the Motueka Marina.

The brief? Create a practical canvas setup that did more than just provide cover. The finished result included zip-on solar panels and built-in drink holders, designed around the way the owner uses their boat.

That's what we enjoy most about custom work. Every project is different, and sometimes the best solutions are the ones you won't find off the shelf.

Every Tasman Canvas product is designed and made in our workshop using quality materials and craftsmanship we're proud to put our name behind.

A few behind-the-scenes shots from a big Ziptrack job over in Nelson 👌

Just because we’re based in Motueka doesn’t mean we stay put. We regularly travel for projects across the wider Tasman and Nelson region depending on the job.

This install involved a fair bit of coordination with the teams at Shade Elements and Go Scaffolding to get everything set up safely and properly onsite.

Big jobs like these are always a team effort.

A few more yarns than usual may have happened… whoops 😅

That’s one of the nice things about a small team though. There’s always plenty happening, plenty of laughs, and somehow the work still gets done properly at the end of the day.

Wouldn’t have it any other way.

A different kind of project for Rowan lately 👌

Outside of the workshop, he’s been volunteering with the Motueka Yacht & Cruising Club Learn to Sail programme, helping teach the next generation of young sailors.

We’re pretty lucky to live in a place where community still matters, and it’s always good seeing people share their time and skills like this.

Good people, good yarns, and hopefully a few future sailors coming through ⛵️
