I get asked a lot if I clean cars—no, sorry. The difference between a detailer and an auto paint detailer is huge. Detailing covers the basics: wash, wax, interior clean, wheels cleaned, tyres dressed, and making everything look shiny. Paint correction, on the other hand, focuses on fixing issues with the paint, restoring the clear coat, and removing swirl marks, holograms, oxidation, etchings, scratches, and more. Most auto paint detailers, like me, also have their own paint mixing systems to repair chips on vehicles. Just like house paint, over time vehicle paint fades, making it impossible to match perfectly with off-the-shelf touch-up paint. You need to adjust the colour to suit the vehicle you’re working on—something I do every day.
