Yes we are still alive 😁...Final piece of the XR falcon puzzle ready to go back...Car is outstanding with its running gear in place and interior ready to go in but no spy photos sorry.
Colour looks good how it shifts from dark to light and will be good when we can finally see the whole car together..I spent a bit of time doing detail work on shell a month or so ago and it continually changes through the day with what light is available..

Black Cut and Polish #2
Ah yes another full on black cut and polish..the hardest to do because unlike every other colour you can absolutely see everything wrong with it..that's why a black car will look dustier than say a red car right next to it..black also shrinks a car..like the little black dress I suppose 🙄🙄😆...So anyway this Mercedes Hearse started life in Japan and had been washed at the local car wash over there which had left scratch marks over the entire car..So to start we degreaser washed whole car then clay mit washed whole car..both by hand..Then removed bonnet as it a job by itself and we can work out routine for rest of car on it...3 heavy lambswool cuts with buff the 2 normal cuts with finer buff pads.a hand cut then hand polished twice to finish..usual wheels and door jambs all cleaned and polished..full interior groom, windows etc..We also clear coated the personalised plates as well as they were already showing signs of wear..for the money you pay they aren't very well protected so clear coating protects your investment and doesn't compromise legality..another happy customer 😁

Black Cut and Polish #1
With having to head north Tim from The Krysler Shop asked us if we could clean up the 71 mustang that's been going together over a couple of years now..with cars been in workshops so long it's inevitable that they get a coating of dust that builds on itself and can be tricky to remove properly..if left alone it actually protects the paint rather than trying to wipe it off and scratch everything..so stated off cleaning down outside then inside cabin etc..masked off outside and gave it a 3000 grit sand and re buffed all the outside again bringing it back to glass finish and sealing it up with a high level polish...then wheels in and out with metal polish..Next was all underneath with a cleaner/sealer which helps with cleaning from here on in.polish the 8.71 supercharger and outside for some photos 😁...pack everything back in van and drive 400ks home...good to work in someone else's shop especially one with so much cool stuff going on..😎😎😎

With the owner of this XU1 Torana getting some work done on the original engine he though he would touch up a few wear and tear marks around the car..with a chip on the roof and small/tiny dents on doors and rear guards and light scratches on boot we were painting the rear 2 3rds of the car..so with having to blend front and clear in the decision was made to light repaint it so we blocked up the existing paint on front guards and bonnet as we had done on rear where we didn't prime..Although it had a good paint job on it it was a bit underwhelming so it was a good chance to sharpen up the lines and get a crisper finish while keeping colour completely original..We had to pull windscreens out as well as we couldn't get rubbers to stay out of way so cleaned up all the old sealer in and around rubbers at the same time...Full clean/polish of glass/interior/engine bay/boot and she is looking show ready.
Was good to work on another classic Aussie muscle car 😎..Thanks to Kev from Timeless for the chance to do this beauty...

Some process photos of door and dash parts etc...even though these parts could seem insignificant in the scheme of things they still have to be prepped as perfectly as as humanly possible and the same process as car used..with a mix of chrome and plastic it does require subltle differences in sanding and prep and it requires cross eyed sanding and masking beyond belief..a lot of times questioning yourself and time put in but once on car with rest of high level work going on im sure it will all make sense 😎

23/04/2022

Door handles in and out and winders..locks and arm rests..dash and glove box panels all finished in darker bumper colour and satin clear..tough as nails driveshaft finished in semi gloss black to match rest of driveline...these parts take up bu**er all room on table but take up booth to set up properly so they dont bang into each other or wire they hanging on

Under bonnet and boot..steering column, glove box, wiper motor parts etc finished in body colour with a mix of gloss and satin clear and a stray test panel for another job

Few photos about 7 months late 🙄..shows the "length" of colour..didnt want a "nice" colour but something with a bit of grit..with a mechanical kind of look..out of sun it was what i like to call a "gloom" colour wheres its milling around not doing much but still looks tough..and yes i am obsessed with custom colours 😍😍😍

Colour working its magic in sun...will be interesting to see colour over whole car once together..sorry about quality of videos..fb manages to take edge off them

Mk2 Jaguar project we have been chipping away at..very tidy car..had laquer on it so was easier to disc it off as it had been a bare metal repaint last time..few bubbles from filler not being applied over etch last time so fixing that up too..another custom grey using Torana colour as a semi base but moving away from blue look to a more purple tinge and finer silvers added to more compliment Jaguars lines and style..louvered bonnet will be a nice touch..guards have been rolled by us and drip rail moulding will be removed and metal on body evened up and painted for a modern cleaner look....
