On Saturday, our staff and families got together to quietly celebrate something pretty special:

Whyteline turned 50.

And in true Whyteline fashion, the marketing department had a few too many drinks and forgot to take photos (oops!).

But, on a more serious note, 50 years really is something to stop and think about.

We’ve spent a lot of time reminiscing this year as we’ve worked towards this milestone. Looking back at old photos, stories, names and faces, and hearing the memories that have been passed down through the years. Thinking about the people who have walked through the doors of Whyteline, and the staff who have spent years, and in some cases decades, here, and the customers who have been coming back to us for generations themselves.

And of course, thinking about John, who started it all.

A lot has changed from those early days to where we are now. The business has grown, the products have changed, the buildings have changed, and the industry has definitely changed around us. But thankfully, at the heart of it, we're still the same family business that started back in 1976.

We’re *incredibly* proud to still be here, 50 years on, and into the third generation of Whytes. It’s so special to see how far the business has come, and even harder to put into words what it means to see something that was started by one person continue to grow through three generations of the family.

As Mark said this weekend, there have been plenty of highs, plenty of lows, some devastating goodbyes, and too many people who have played a part along the way to count.

So, to everyone who has supported Whyteline over the past 50 years, thank you. We wouldn’t have made it here without you.

And a special thank you to the people who helped make Saturday such a great afternoon:

We’re proud of where we’ve come from, grateful to everyone who has been part of getting us here, and we're so excited to see where the next chapters take us.

Mark on the BBQ? She'll be right.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Case IH and New Holland open day on Tuesday! Many sausages were consumed, the latest models were proudly displayed, and we had a great time catching up with customers, old and new.

We’ll always welcome the opportunity to rattle off tractor facts to anyone willing to listen, so if you missed out on the day, give Vaughn a call on 07 862 8783.

Tractor Scott has a few important words on bird season - and what you can do to prevent expensive insurance claims in the coming months.

Please remember to keep your bonnets up when you’re not operating your tractors. It doesn’t matter if you’re running home for a quick lunch or just wandering the paddock on foot. Birds work quickly, and their nests are extremely flammable. Save yourself a headache, and a little heartache, by taking an extra minute to ensure your most important piece of machinery is protected.

There’s a pretty exciting trip coming up for one of our own!

Later this year, 22-year-old Paeroa local Ashton Whyte will head to Portugal to compete for Team New Zealand at the 2026 International Six Day Enduro (ISDE), after being selected for the Junior Trophy Team.

For anyone who knows the Whyte family, Ashton representing New Zealand on a Beta won't come as a surprise. He’s grown up around bikes, riding and racing, with plenty of encouragement from his dad Mark - a three-time New Zealand Veteran Enduro Champion. Bikes have been a big part of Ashton’s life from a young age, initially through motocross before he made the switch to enduro around 2023. Since then, things have moved pretty quickly.

Ashton has become increasingly focused on enduro, and with Whyteline having represented Beta for several years now, a Beta has naturally been his bike of choice for much of that riding. More recently, he’s traded some of his time in our busy motorcycle workshop for long days on the trails... in Europe.

For the past three months Ashton has been in Romania helping map and set up the Red Bull Romaniacs track, one of the most demanding hard enduro events in the world. In that time, he’s clocked up just over 200 hours on bike, which should give you an idea of the training he's been putting in ahead of Portugal.
