With the promise of a cold beer, I convinced Old Mate to take the floor sander for a spin this week to peel back a few layers of history in our new showroom.

And now he's out of town collecting more bikes and not stirring up dust, I've had the opportunity to add a few coats of polyurethane - and the old girl is glowing again!

She’s imperfect, super rustic and full of character with a few great stories in those floorboards… and now she’s had some love, she's almost ready to party once again.

We're inching ever closer to completion in October - watch this space 👀🏍️

There's plenty happening!

Around the workshop at the moment, our brand-new concrete driveway is taking shape. Thanks to the team at Modern concrete and landscaping taranaki who've done an awesome job helping us create a cleaner, safer, and more practical space for all things motorcycles and workshop operations.

And at the retail space in Tasman Street, we've been making adjustments to the concrete for the bike entry through our new garage door which replaced a side window.
Every improvement is another step towards creating an awesome, efficient Highway 45 bike space.

It's great to see some progress as all the pieces of the puzzle come together - & we can't wait to share the finished result with you in October!

I had a conversation today with a man that has a big stake in the NZ motorcycle fraternity. He reminded me about the contribution and culture of motorcycling in New Zealand and the world. I remembered being at Manfield and witnessing the Buckley BSLs kick some arse. I visited the factory to see the magic in the making. And then there's the Britten that celebrated kiwi capability on the world stage of motorcycle motorsport. One day, recently, by chance, Bernadette and I found ourselves stopped for a coffee in a tiny town in USA called Solvang. I googled "motorcycle shops near me".. Well, roll me in flour and fry me,,, I found Virgils museum...and bu**er me, there in the collection was number ten... So proud that this bike is representing.

Everyone has their gut feeling about what qualifies as a classic motorcycle. Me, I tend to muddy the waters.
If a bike is iconic in history I'm interested in it. Doesn't matter if it's J*p or BEARS.
That is why our horizons are broad in what we might stock and sell in the shop for sale.
So don't be shy - if you have a bike that you might like to sell, I might be keen to buy it.

While we're busier than a coffee caravan at a bike rally refurbishing the retail shop, old mate is also having the time of his life completing a job on a customers classic Norton in the workshop.

I'm pretty sure the test ride is his favourite part on beauties like these!

Righto, back I go to adding to the structural integrity of the shop with copious litres of paint 😂
