Lowes Hire & Engineering We are a large hire & engineering business as well as having a very diverse retail showroom Lowes Hire & Engineering is a family owned and operated business.

Founded in 1981 in a small building in the middle of the town of Opotiki, we have grown, improved and expanded to where we are now. With an extensive range of hire and retail product as well as specialist engineering services, we have most things covered. Some of the service we offer are:

And this is why we can't have nice things Ōpōtiki.

Ōpōtiki District Council are currently refurbishing the Hukuwai toilets and to ensure facilities are still available while the work is going on, we have a couple of our portaloos there for the public to use.

Well, it took 2 whole days before someone REALLY needed a toilet, cut the padlocks and stole the portaloo! I guess it gives a whole new meaning to when someone says they're taking a s**t!

If you've seen a distinctive blue portaloo suddenly appear near you that shouldn't be there, please let us know. There will be a reward for any information that leads to the recovery of it.

Good morning Opotiki!
Quick status update: We are open!

We are running in a very reduced capacity however, with only a couple of computers running. We do have Eftpos available but we have no phone system.

Unfortunately, we have no generators left either for hire or sale.

We have plenty of chainsaws and water pumps in stock.
