Competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) provides another option when choosing how to get your motorcycle licences🏍

Instead of only taking a practical test at the restricted and full stages of your licence, you can choose to have your riding skills assessed by an approved CBTA assessor (which Ian, your motorcycle assessor is).

Bookings are on weekdays, usually starting at 9am (depending upon availability).

When attending your Basic Handling Skills Course, you have the choice of two courses, depending on your current riding ability🏍

Course 1: Basic Handling Skills Course Training and Test: Ideal for experienced riders or those who are familiar with operating a manual geared motorbike. The course is two hours long and covers the riding exercises riders will need to pass the first part of their 6L. Riders will only conduct the test once they meet the required testing standard.

Course 2: Basic Handling Skills Course Training ONLY: Ideal for riders who are new or inexperienced to riding. This course teaches riders how to ride a manual geared motorbike and allows for rider confidence to be improved when riding a motorcycle. This course is two hours long and is a training ONLY course. Riders who complete this course return to sit their Basic Handling Skills test at a later stage.

The courses above are catered for small groups with similar riding abilities with a maximum of four riders on any one session.

Thanks to Hayley who attended our Motorcycle Skills Ride Forever course (previously named the Urban Ride Forever course) on Monday. We hope you learnt some valuable skills from the session🏍

Motorbike Skills is ideal if you're new to riding a motorcycle or scooter, mostly ride in an urban environment, and want to boost early skills and commute safely.

A half day course aimed to improve skills and knowledge to deal confidently with urban traffic flows and riding situations. Understanding of road positioning to better see and be seen. Improved braking skills. More competence and confidence to enjoy riding more.

On the day you’ll start with a briefing and safety check, you'll move on to an urban ride through varying traffic flows, stopping from time to time for assessment and advice.
