The Wildtrak doesn't ask you to choose. Same ute, both lives — 3,500kg braked towing, and it cleans up better than the driver does.

Ford has confirmed the Bronco Basecamp for New Zealand. From mid-2027, and it plugs in.

Two electric motors drive it. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol behind them is a generator and nothing else — it never touches the wheels. 49kWh of usable battery, and Ford is quoting 800 to 900km all up.

The roof lifts. Both rows of seats fold flat. There's a 7.5-litre console that heats or chills, a table that folds out of the tailgate, and it'll run mains power out of the car — up to 6.6kW.

Images are Ford's, released with the announcement — that's the Outer Banks. New Zealand spec, pricing and variants come closer to arrival, and we'll put them up here as we get them.

Before anyone says it — no, it's not the V6 from the States. Ford has never built that one in right-hand drive, which is why we've never had a Bronco to sell you. Hopefully they do one day. We're happy we're getting this one.

You can finally get a V6 in an XLT.

Ford's 3.0 V6 — the engine out of the Wildtrak and the Tremor — is now an XLT option for the first time. $69,990+ORC and tyre fee, while stocks last.

The two-litre is all new as well: single turbo, chain-driven, from $55,990+ORC. Either engine still tows 3.5 tonne, and every XLT now comes blacked out from the factory.

The Euro Tunnel between London and Paris is 50.5k long. The nearest points between the North Island and the South Island is 22/25k long. Build a tunnel. Toll it, no more storm delays, no more ferries to break down, or keep up to date. A rail link could be also included. Huge cost, yes in the short term. But its a one off. Just a thought. A legacy for New Zealand.

Peters responded to criticism about how long everything has taken, by blaming it on the fact that his team had only recently taken charge.
