Helping Hand is an annual Auto Super Shoppes promotion to give back to our community.
This year’s Helping Hand recipient is The Hawkes Bay Multiple Sclerosis Society. We are servicing and warranting the vehicle provided for Julie, the local registered nurse. Please take the time to read the following information regarding this organisation and the vital role they have within our community.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a life-long neurological condition affecting 5000 New Zealanders across Aotearoa. Increasingly being diagnosed in younger people, it often emerges between the ages of 20 to 50. Women are three times more likely to be diagnosed than men.
A complex condition, MS presents with a range of symptoms. No two people experience MS in the same way, or the same combination of symptoms.
In most cases, MS is now treatable and manageable with timely diagnosis, access to treatment and lifestyle modifications. As yet, there is no cure or known cause of MS, but many genetic and environmental factors have been shown to contribute to its development.
MS doesn’t just affect those diagnosed but also their family, whānau, carers and support system. MS services are available throughout New Zealand for all those affected.

The Hawke’s Bay Multiple Sclerosis Society provides support and education to people with multiple sclerosis and their families/whanau.
The Society provides peer support groups, gives information and knowledge about MS to clients and their families and the wider community.

Auto Super Shoppes throughout New Zealand are donating a service to charities today 27th September 2024.

Auto Super Shoppe Onekawa this year has offered this to the
The Muscular Dystrophy Association Central Region.

Muscular Dystrophy Association of NZ is a national organisation supporting members and their whānau and friends. It represents members with over 70 forms of neuromuscular conditions.

"Neuromuscular condition" is a broad term that describes a variety of muscle disorders. The conditions covered by MDANZ are rare and mostly genetic

The Central Region Branch covers Taranaki, Manawatu, East Coast, and Greater Wellington. It provides support from fieldworkers and community coordinators' who work alongside members so they can achieve their goals and live a valued life.

Support includes home visits, funding for counselling, members events, condition specific and general information, practical resources, and peer to peer support.

MDANZ also provides social networking opportunities, facilitates research, and works with clinicians and researchers to improve care standards.

Congratulations to Mark Nohmura our local winner of 1 of 7 Air New Zealand Mystery Winter Getaways for booking a service or repair during July or August. Mark owns MK Cafe in Ahuriri and I am sure will enjoy a break.

We have returned from up north with 5 cookers we managed to find and 20 x 4 packs of Butane gas bottles if anyone needs them.
Cookers were $22
4 pack of gas $6

We still have power and internet here in our Reception area if you need it.
Even a coffee or tea.

We have more today as Century Napier has supplied batteries for another inverter to charge more devices. We also have a delivery of the Hawkes Bay Today newspaper for everyone.
And we have been delivered a lot of meat to cook to give out and 2 bbqs cooking lots of food and can give you a hot Coffee or Tea for that feel alive flavour 😁
