That bright colour makes them stand out to other drivers - especially when you’re travelling slower than normal.

Space savers are designed to get you out of trouble, not keep you on the road. They’ve got a much smaller contact patch, so they’re not something you want to be cruising around on for any longer than you have to.

If you’re running a space saver, take it easy and call in and see us. We’ll get your normal tyre repaired, get it back on the car and check the rest of your tyres are all sitting at the correct pressure.

And to all those drivers stuck behind someone doing 80km/h and getting frustrated… take a couple of deep breaths!

They might just have one of those little yellow biscuits on and are doing the right thing by taking it easy.

The answer? It depends.

At Bay Tyres & 4x4 Napier , we stock a wide range of brands because every driver is different. The best tyre for someone who drives 30,000km a year on the open road isn’t necessarily the best tyre for someone who only drives around town.

Premium tyres offer the latest technology, excellent grip in wet and dry conditions, a quieter ride, you don’t always get the best mileage out of a premium tyre as they offer a lot of grip on the road but are generally a softer compound of rubber so they can wear quicker.

Mid-range tyres are a great all-round option, balancing performance, durability, and value.

Budget tyres are ideal if you’re looking for an affordable replacement or don’t do a lot of kilometres.

Our job isn’t to sell you the most expensive tyre - it’s to help you choose the tyre that’s right for your vehicle, your driving, and your budget.

We threw a few goodies into the prize pool for the Hastings Rugby & Sports Club junior quiz night, alongside plenty of other awesome Hawke’s Bay businesses.

Good to see locals getting in behind the club. Cheers to everyone who donated and everyone who turned up on the night
