When a battery warning light turns into a full electrical investigation. π¦
This Range Rover came in with the battery light on and a charging fault. What looked like a straightforward battery job turned into something far more involved once we got into the boot.
The spare wheel well had filled with water β and sitting right in the middle of it was the battery, fuse box, and wiring. The battery tray was full of standing water, the fuse block had corroded through, earth straps had turned to rust, and the wiring had suffered significant corrosion damage throughout.
We drained the boot, removed the battery and fuse box assembly, cleaned down the entire area, replaced the battery, repaired the damaged fuse box, and restored the corroded wiring back to a serviceable condition. Once reassembled, charging voltage was confirmed correct and all systems operating as expected.
Water ingress in these vehicles is no joke β left unchecked, it doesnβt just flatten a battery. It works its way through every connection in the area and the repair bill grows fast.
If your Range Rover has had a wet boot or youβre chasing electrical gremlins, get it looked at before it becomes a bigger problem.
