Quiet morning at work. Good way to spend a couple of hours, fixing the leaking dinghy behind the shed. Why just fix the patch, let’s make a window in the bottom.🤣🤣. Will it float? Will put it in the estuary tomorrow after school and see. If it doesn’t sink it should be fun way to spend some time on the water with Willow 🤣

Great timing, was at the supermarket last night and got a phone call from one of the staff with a leaking radiator. Checked it out and gave her options of replacing or repairing the radiator. Got it all sorted for her this morning.

Crunchy 😬. Leaking Honda GB500 tank , owner stripped the paint and found some history😬. This has had some dent repairs done previously and a liner put in it. Unfortunately the liner had failed and the tank was leaking. I’ll make a new section of the tank, clean out all the liner and sort it out.

Saturday afternoon holiday breakdowns 😬. One was an inherited problem buying a car that obviously had not been looked after well. The other someone stranded in Mangawhai needing to get to Hamilton. Got him back on the road again with parts that were instock.

Reminder to everyone to change your antifreeze! It may not get cold enough up here to freeze in winter but the inhibitors in the coolant are going to stop your radiator ending up like this. These old Hitachi digger radiators all seem to look in the same state when they come in for a service 🥵 no wonder it’s heating up.

Hitachi excavator was getting hot. Pretty easy to see why, no airflow through the core fins and no coolant flow through the radiator tubes. A bit of a double whammy on this one. All cleaned, I’ll put it back together and they can get back to moving dirt.

Solder corrosion on the header to tube joins. Needed a clean up and header Resolder.

Lucky the lady didn’t cook this. Stopped as soon as the warning light came on and got it towed to me. Water pouring out of it. No temperature gauges in these cars 😬just a warning light that comes on if it gets too hot.
