Here is an example of one situation that the animal is stress free at the time of slaughtering. I do my utmost not to cause any undue stress to the animal. It doesn't get much easier and stress free than this. It is what I do. Gotta love homekill.

I have one butcher (who has set up in opposition to me) now claims that pithing makes the meat tough. I asked him many times during the 9-10 years that I delivered meat to him if he can tell the difference between pithed meat and non pithed meat, and he always said that he couldn't tell. I have asked all of the other butchers that I have dealt with and still deal with over the years and they can't tell the difference either. The butcher who says that it makes the meat tough is simply saying that to try and make me look bad so they use him instead of me. I can't deliver to him anyway as he has given me two trespass notices for absolutely no reason at all. It is his way of getting people to use him. Has anyone got any actual scientific evidence that it causes any change to the tenderness of the meat? I do not want reasons like, "I have been doing this for 30 years and I can tell."

This video shows the difference between pithing and non pithing a cattle beast after it has been shot. The animals were shot for the owner of them to eat.The...

This is a first for me. Normally just rips the udder off with the skin.

Here is another one of those anomalies that I see occasionally. I have seen this quite a few times in sheep, but not many with beef. Gotta love homekill.

An end of an era. The old Homekill dog tucker truck has gone to the wreckers. I have owned this truck since I started in 2006. I started out doing dog tucker sheep then progressed to mutton, then to beef. I stopped doing dog tucker sheep after 17 years. I had a few helpers on the way, one of which was Trevor. Trevor was and probably still is a tireless worker that did many hundreds of sheep with that truck along with his daughter Jade. I got his help because the human consumption side of things got really busy and I simply couldn't do both. Your work was much appreciated, thanks Trev. I did an average of 200 a week for about 15 years until the Human consumption side slowly increased to a point were I couldn't do both. I stopped doing dog tucker sheep 3 years ago. I now only do animals for human consumption which are sheep, cattle, deer, alpacas, pigs and goats. Gotta love homekill. I thought I would add a couple of videos of how I used this truck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D970uSpQ89c&t=550s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nNiJbln0a0

My dog (Rocksie) loves to come out with me on the job. This is some of the ways my dog positions herself in the truck. She is too big to fit on the seat properly. Gotta love homekill.

Had to make a long shot today. This is probably the longest shot that I have ever done (about 140 metres). This was a very nervous steer that kept jumping fences and they couldn't get into the yards to do anything with it. The R***r .223 did the job nicely. Gotta love homekill.

Did this beauty the other day. It has a face only a mother could love. It was in great condition, despite the obvious. It was born this way and had no problems suckling milk. Gotta love homekill.
