Dirt Nation with Giti Radials and Bryan Chang: 2026 CT Civil ORANZ National Finals

Canterbury Set for a Huge Weekend of Off Road Racing!

The countdown is on! New Zealand’s off-road racing community is preparing to descend on Canterbury over Labour Weekend, 24–25 October, for the 2026 CT Civil ORANZ National Finals, hosted by the Canterbury Off Road Racing Club at Canterbury Offroad Raceway, West Melton, Christchurch.

After a hard-fought season of racing across both the North and South Islands, it all comes down to one final weekend, where National Championship honours will be decided, bragging rights earned, and the country’s best off-road racers will give it everything they have.

Remembering Mark Baker

The Giti NZ OffRoad Race Team is heartbroken by the sudden loss of our great friend, Mark Baker.

Mark was so much more than the media man behind the camera and notebook. He was a past racer himself, a journalist, photographer, and a passionate supporter of our team. We could always count on Mark to follow our racing, share our stories and support us wherever the sport took us. His encouragement and friendship meant a great deal to all of us.

Mark’s own racing story included in the early days rallying and sharing the driving of a Class 2 Nissan Terrano with his brother Gary at the Taupo 1000. He went on to travel all over New Zealand covering events. He was a past Toyota Racing Series media guy, also was past Off Road Racing Association of New Zealand (ORANZ) media guy for years, and brought four-wheel-drive and motorsport stories to readers as editor of NZ4WD. His Petrolhead magazine column was another place where he shared his knowledge and love of the sport.

We’ll remember Mark as a racer, a storyteller, a familiar face around the tracks, and—above all—a great friend who always supported our team.

A heartfelt thank you to Dorothy and Caitlin for sharing Mark with the sport through all those years of weekend travel and events. We know that commitment meant many weekends without him at home, and we’re grateful for the support you gave him and for the friendship you shared with all of us.

Our thoughts are with Dorothy, Caitlin, Gary and the wider Baker family and friends. We’ll miss you, mate. Thanks for everything you did for our team and for the sport we all love.

Rest easy, Mark. You’ll never be forgotten.
