20kg worth of filament, 2 weeks of printing, surprisingly only a few failures.

This thing is massive.

Stan and I went ahead and completely changed up the design, now we're going to be ditching the short tail and going for a long wheel base version. This version shifts the rear axle 150mm further back, giving us a bit more room for the 2GR V6 engine swap and most importantly giving the car a much more authentic group C look.

It's really coming along, just wait until you see what's been happening the past few weeks...

Definitely needs a little tweaking to the fitment around the A-pillar but there was always going to be a lot of extra work to do to this thing on these prototype parts.

Overall though I'm still super happy with how that came out out, there's even enough room inside for me to sit comfortably with a helmet on.

After the mould for the center section was finished I sealed it with a layer of resin before doing the release agent, I've found that helps it pop out of the mould a bit cleaner.

Then you can see the fiberglass layup uses a couple foam strips to reinforce the more flat edges, just to stop them warping so much. No need for that in the middle as this will be supported by the roof and rear clamshell.

A lot of you really enjoyed these latest posts on the quick restoration I did to the Miata while I was back in NZ so I figured, hey, why not post the videos here as well?

For those unfamiliar with my content, I don't do any talking to camera or voiceover because there's plenty of that on social media already, but for added info I do add subtitles that explain the processes and give more details.
