It is with deep sadness that we advise of the unexpected passing of Ricky Murrell, a friend, mentor, leader, and a well-known and much-loved figure within our Southland community.
Ricky passed away while enjoying one of his greatest passions, time on his boat, in the dramatic and beautiful scenery of Fiordland. Fiordland holds a deep and personal history for the Murrell family, making it all the more poignant that Ricky spent his final moments in a place so closely tied to his roots.
Ricky was full of life, energy, and passion, for people, for the industry, and for the outdoors. Whether it was cars, hunting, or fishing adventures, he lived life on his own terms and made the most of every moment. His larger-than-life presence, quick wit, and genuine warmth made him a character that everyone admired and enjoyed being around.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Andrea, daughters Jamie and Tayla, son Benjie, his brothers Bobby and Guy, and sisters Lou,Tammy and Amber. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to them all during this incredibly difficult time.
Ricky will be remembered for his dedication to family, passionate friendship, his laughter, and his sense of adventure. He will be deeply missed.
