Another incredible day on the water for East Coast Sportfishing Charters!

Congratulations to the crew and their happy anglers on another outstanding charter and a fantastic haul.

A very special day for “Minor Variation” 🥂

From the very beginning, this boat has been more than just a build. It has been a project shared by father and son, Mark and Taylor, bringing them together from opposite ends of the country as they worked through the ideas, details, and decisions that would shape their dream boat.

With Mark in the South Island and Taylor in the North Island, “Minor Variation” became a shared goal and a journey they could enjoy together long before she ever touched the water.

Today, that journey reached a milestone as they officially christened their new custom Image 8.25m Fishmaster before her first launch.

Taylor sent her on her way with a fitting boater's blessing:

"Fair winds, fair seas, tight lines, good times... cheers!" 🍾

With the champagne sprayed, a celebratory swig from the bottle and smiles all around “Minor Variation” was ready to meet the water and begin the adventures she was built for.

After turning heads at the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, she's now ready for her next chapter as her new owners arrive in town to take delivery.

Purpose-built for serious offshore fishing, “Minor Variation” is loaded with everything needed for chasing big fish offshore:

There's always a bit of excitement when a new build heads off to the paintshop.

This Image 8.5m Fishmaster has reached another major milestone, and we think the colour scheme we've chosen is going to suit her perfectly.

Classic, clean and built to stand the test of time.

We'll reveal the finished look once she's back in the workshop—but for now, here's a little behind-the-scenes look as she heads off on the next stage of her journey.

After turning heads at the Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show, our all-new custom Image 8.25m Fishmaster is finally heading out for her very first sea trial with excited new owners.

Built for serious offshore fishing, this one is packed with features including an extended wheelhouse, massive 700L fuel capacity, FLIR thermal camera, complete Simrad electronics package, Minn Kota, tuna tubes, outriggers, lithium power system and premium finishes throughout.

The Deep South has turned on the sunshine today, although Foveaux Strait is still serving up enough sea to provide a proper test. We wouldn't have it any other way—our boats are designed and built for real New Zealand conditions, and that's exactly where they prove themselves.

We'll be looking forward to hearing the team's feedback when they're back!

Fresh out of the paintshop at Southland Commercial & Car Painters and looking absolutely stunning - our latest custom designed and built Image 8.25m Fishmaster is now heading into Fitout.

Even at this early stage she’s already showing the quality, lines and presence this build is all about. We can’t wait to bring her through the next stages and see her come to life.

Winter Maintenance Tips for your Image Boat -

Now is the time to catch up with any maintenance that needs doing either on your boat or trailer.

If you are wanting to “Winter-ise” your motor & boat the best option is to bring it in to us & we can drain the water from your plumbing & engine. Also, using a Fuel Conditioner & Diesel Bug Treatment will help prevent filter blockages or injector failure. (Note: keep your diesel tanks full to help prevent condensation build up.)

With new trailers now receiving a 3year WOF for the first year, and yearly every year after, it is important to keep an eye on bearings, brake pads and tyre wear. An easy way to do this is when you launch your boat. Give your trailer a good once over. It is a lot cheaper to catch worn pads before its metal-on-metal which will require your rotors to be re-skimmed which is a much more expensive job.

Draining Your Califont

1. Take cover off at bottom of Califont.
2. Underneath Califont is a brass screw. Undo screw & let the water out.
3. Put all hoses on the ground & open up all taps, including freshwater taps in the kitchen. It doesn't hurt to blow down shower hose to push any trapped water out of the Califont.

We don't have any problems with freezing water pipes & tanks, but it wouldn't hurt to empty those if concerned. Also check your deck wash hose as it can have trapped water.

Building both in-house means better fit, better function and a better ownership experience from the driveway to the boat ramp and beyond.

One of the biggest advantages? Loading and unloading is incredibly easy. Our trailers are designed to guide the boat effortlessly into position. You can come onto the trailer at a 45° angle and it'll still pull itself into the centre and snug up exactly where it belongs at the front of the trailer.

👀 Sneak Peek from the Image Boats Workshop 👀

Two incredible Image 8.5m Fishmasters currently taking shape in the workshop — each at a very different stage of the journey.

One is just getting underway, with the foundations of another serious offshore machine coming together. The other is rapidly nearing completion and is almost ready to head into the paint shop, where it will really start to turn heads.

While they may be at different stages, both builds share one thing in common... they'll be powered by twin Suzuki DF200 APX outboards, delivering the performance, reliability and efficiency these boats are built for.

From bare alloy to finished masterpiece, it's always exciting watching these custom builds come to life.
