A weekend escape from 20-22/3/2026 was organized by members Darcy and Betty Lupton. We set out from Cambridge on Friday, bound for Te Aroha, where Gwenda and Warren provided a warm welcome with morning tea. Upon arrival at Athenree, the group assembled for afternoon drinks, followed by a BBQ dinner skillfully prepared by Betty, Gloria & Florence and cooked by Darcy and Nigel.
On Saturday, a leisurely drive was taken, with a pause for coffee at the Flat White Cafe in Waihi, situated by the beach.
We then enjoyed dinner at the Waihi RSA and appreciated the shuttle service for transportation on Saturday evening.
On Sunday morning, we departed for home.
Our thanks to Darcy & Betty Lupton for organizing a great weekend away again.

A Service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be held at the Te Kauwhata Rugby Sports Club, Mahi Road, Te Kauwhata on Monday, 23 February at 11:00 AM followed by burial at the Pukerimu Cemetery, State Highway 2, Paeroa.

New club member Paul Johnson is display his Morris Minor Bullet on the Concours de elegance on Sunday. We will wish him well. It's a little beauty !!! If your going, look out for it and catchup with Paul Best of luck Paul It would be a 1st if you won that tough competition

Our club run yesterday began with rain, which eventually cleared to overcast conditions by lunchtime. The run included a visit to the Taupiri Sunflower Farm, currently showcasing its vibrant blooms. As a tribute to the late Dennis Perry, members each placed a yellow remembrance ribbon on the commemorative fence line and a group photo was taken in front of it.
After morning tea, we headed to the Bob Byrne Memorial Park, situated opposite Dennis's home, where Club Captain Nigel shared reflections on Dennis's January club runs. The occasion was marked with a custom-made cake by Prescilla. A good day Dennis, we miss you a lot our dear friend and it was good to see the "Rover" on the run too.
