🏁𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚🏁

The flag has dropped for the final time on the 25/26 season.

Out of respect for the family, and those affected following the recent event, the Beachlands Committee has decided not to proceed with the final 2-day Battle of the Streetstocks meeting scheduled for the 10th and 11th of April.

This decision has not been made lightly and is done with the wider Speedway community in mind.

We thank everyone for the support shown over recent days, and throughout the season. It’s been a tough time, but the strength of the speedway community continues to show.

We look forward to regrouping and coming back strong for a fresh start next season.

On Saturday night we lost one of the greats, doing exactly what he loved.

Paul Simon wasn’t just a name in Speedway, he was a cornerstone of it. A valued life member of Beachlands Speedway, a mentor to so many, and a true legend on the track with multiple NZ Championship titles to his name. From Streetstocks to Stockcars and Super Saloons, Paul didn’t just race them, he lived and breathed them, building cars, shaping the sport, and setting the standard.

But beyond the titles and achievements, Paul was something even more important, a family-first man, a loyal friend, and a genuine good bu**er who gave his time, knowledge, and support to everyone around him. He was the kind of person who made the pits feel like home, always there with advice, a laugh, or a helping hand.

His impact on Beachlands Speedway and the wider Speedway community will never be forgotten. The legacy he leaves behind will live on through his incredible family, the countless drivers he mentored, the cars he built, and the memories he helped create.

Our thoughts are with Leanne and the entire Simon/Nicolaou family during this incredibly tough time.

Rest easy, Paul. You’ve earned your place among the greats, and you’ll forever be part of the track 🏁❤️
