If you’ve spent years fixing big machinery, solving the problems others couldn’t and know that the best lessons are learned with your hands dirty — we should talk.

We’re looking for a Technical Team Leader to join Heavy Diesel Support Ltd based in Dunedin.

🚜 The variety is huge. Civil, quarrying, forestry, materials handling, industrial and marine — loaders, heavy forklifts, engines, hydraulics and plenty more. No two days are the same!

You’ll lead from the front — supporting the team, mentoring apprentices, solving technical challenges and still getting stuck into the tools.

Our team is humbly confident. We know our stuff, share knowledge, have a laugh and genuinely want to keep improving.

If you’re an experienced technician, senior mechanic, foreman or team leader who wants variety, to work with great people and the opportunity to make a difference — this could be your next move.

This truck was not built for wooden stadium floors. 😅

Last month we headed down to Invercargill for the NZ Quarry Conference, and that's our service truck sitting on the floor of Stadium Southland. Getting that much weight in without marking the place up took a bit of care, but we made it work.

Three days of talking to people in the quarry industry, hearing what they're dealing with on site, swapping stories and sharing a bit about what we do. At Heavy Diesel Support LTD, we take pride in what you do, and that's what this conference looked like in practice. Every conversation was different, and every one of them was a reminder of why we like this industry.

Thanks to the NZ Quarry Conference team for having us. We really enjoyed being part of it. The quarrying industry is full of great people. We’d love the opportunity to be involved again in the future!

It's a BIG week in the HDSL workshop… because one of our own is currently living the Volvo Penta dream in Sweden! 🇸🇪👏

Late last year, our Senior Apprentice Izak took out the title of Volvo Penta Apprentice of the Year for Oceania — and this week, that award has taken him all the way to the home of Volvo Penta itself.

Right now, Izak is in Sweden, getting an up-close look at Volvo Penta’s world-class operations for their marine and industrial products, including their foundry, assembly factories, remanufacturing sites and Volvo Penta HQ! Not a bad way to spend the week!

We’re hugely proud of Izak and can’t wait to hear all about the trip when he gets back — and no doubt he’ll be coming home with plenty of knowledge, stories, and inspiration to bring back to the HDSL workshop and our valued customers.

Enjoy every minute, Izak— what an experience!
