1982 Suzuki RM80Z - What a wee stunner.

With the last of the parts needed arriving earlier this week, the engine work was completed.

We have Cerakoted the engine in H-series Gloss Black and the Exhaust done in V-series Cobra Black.
(The L/H plastic engine cover has also been Cerakoted.)

This week we were asked to cerakote the exhaust components on this 1908 De Dion Buton model BG.

After a restoration by David and Russell McIvor many many years ago it is believed the car attended the Dunedin to Brighton run in 1957.

The current owner is looking to bring it to Dunedin for the Dunedin to Brighton run in 2027 making it 70 years between events for the car.

What we have here is a magnesium engine case set and gearbox cases from a 1954 Volkswagen Kombi.

In 1954 these magnesium parts would have been coated in a product called Alodine, a corrosion inhibitor that was applied to the exterior.
We were asked if we could replicate the colour in Cerakote.

With no direct colour matching it was time to put some mixology to the test as we were very fortunate to have a spare engine case half that had been sitting in the dark for close on 70 years.
(Shown in the second picture)

We used a number of colours in the Cerakote H series and had a large number of spray outs as there was no formula to work with and the metallics varied in each colour we were mixing.

After quite a few late nights we (Callum and myself) I finally got to spray the result that you see here.

Great to be involved in what will no
doubt be another stunning restoration.

Last week we managed to get the 1991 Honda NSR 250 frame and swingarm completed.

After removing the anodising we worked through several test scenarios to rectify the orbital sanding results a previous owner had left in an effort to polish the frame and swing arm.

We have vapour blasted and applied a finish to replicate the original brushed look on the non casts aluminium parts.

Some photos of the CR250 one of our customers is doing up.

The frame, swingarm, wheel hubs, master cylinders, brake callipers, tripple clamps and the full frame and engine bolt kits have all been vapour blasted.

Bolts and axles are now all away for plating.
