Reid Trailers Reid Trailers built to last since 1965 Our trailers are built to last. We build top quality trailers with no compromise.

Reid Trailers are a New Zealand owned and operated company first established in Auckland in the early 1960’s, making us, we believe, the longest established trailer manufacturer in New Zealand. Many early domestic and commercial Reid Trailers from 1965 onwards are still in very good condition with no obvious signs of damage. Although, the life of a trailer is largely dependent on how the trailer is maintained, some of our older trailers have been on the road since 1965. In short, we don’t know the exact shelf life of a Reid Trailer, but it’s at least 58 years and still counting. All of our trailers are manufactured, from raw steel to the finished product, right here in our factory in Auckland. We use NZ sourced quality components, New Zealand structural steel and all of our trailers are hot dip galvanised… and, yes they are built for New Zealand conditions. We are constantly reviewing product design both in house and from suppliers to make sure our trailers are the best on the market.

The Reid Shuttle Trailer is built to last. It is a proven trailer used by many satisfied customers over the years.

Our Shuttle trailer has been designed to a proven formula after consultations with many Private and Commercial Industry customers. This is one of our most popular trailers for use for luggage transport but also as onsite storage for contractors, schools and many other organisations.

The Reid Shuttle is built with many features to ensure Convenient, Reliable and Safe usage. These features include a single beam drawbar to enable a greater turn in tight situations. The height is designed to enable you to see over the roof of the trailer from a commercial van and the loading of this trailer is made easy and customer friendly by the “flush to floor” Gull-Wing opening system. This allows quick and easy loading of goods without having to lift items over the side of a trailer.

Another custom built Enclosed trailer completed in our Clevedon workshop this week!

We’ve just finished this Enclosed Machinery Trailer, purpose-built for a client to house a specialist machine that will be operated by technicians across sites throughout the lower North Island.

This trailer was designed around the client’s exact requirements, with practical access and long-term durability front of mind. It features a side access door into the front storage area, plus a side access hatch supported by gas struts so operators can easily access the side of the machinery while on site.

At the rear, we've built full-height barn doors so the machinery can be installed and permanently mounted in place. The trailer also includes a solid steel tread plate floor, welded directly onto the chassis before being hot-dipped galvanised. Because the machinery processes a lot of water, we have also hot-dipped galvanised the whole of the top framework to help keep the trailer rust-free for many years to come.

Most of the enclosed trailers we manufacture are custom-designed to suit each customer’s individual needs and applications — and this one is a great example of a trailer built for a very specific job.

Fresh out of the workshop this week! We’ve just completed this enclosed "Events” trailer for a customer, built to be a versatile setup for public events across the Auckland region.

Designed with flexibility in mind, it will be used for a range of purposes - from hosting bands and acting as a mobile stage, to supporting event operations with space for laptops, equipment, speakers, amplifiers and more.

The large lift-up side door is supported by gas struts, creating an open and accessible event space, while the rear ramp makes it easy to wheel heavy gear in and out. A front-mounted workbench adds a practical area for laptops, controls and other equipment.

Once wrapped in the customer’s branding, this trailer will be ready to hit the road and make an impact at events around Auckland.

Our customer collected this versatile Multi-purpose 8' x 5' Stock Trailer set up with a removable stock cage last month. Fitted with a heavy-duty PVC cover, it is perfect for transporting livestock such as their Wiltshire sheep and calves safely and comfortably.

The light grey cover includes a front vent to help keep good airflow moving through for the animals, while the cage gives them a practical, secure setup for farm transport.

When the cage cover comes off, the trailer is just as handy for transporting a quad bike or ride-on mower, thanks to its easy tilt function, as the tailgate is built strong so it can be used as a ramp.

That tilt feature also makes unloading loads of garden mulch, compost, builder’s mix, and other materials much easier.

A great all-round trailer for lifestyle blocks, small farms, gardening, property maintenance, and weekend jobs. 🌳

We handed over this Enclosed single-axle trailer to its new owner earlier today. We’re really pleased to have been able to build a trailer that will carry all his equipment and enable him and his family the freedom to travel away from home whenever needed.

We designed and built it with an easy-lift ramp, which has a smooth blade edge, so it is very easy to load and unload heavy mobility equipment, along with a side access door. It has flush-mounted anchor points recessed into the floor, and tie rails on all three walls to safely secure all the equipment to.

Its single-axle design allows it to be easily manoeuvred by hand when it’s not attached to the tow vehicle. A practical design built for convenience, flexibility, and plenty of adventures ahead for this lovely customer and his family.

This Rowing Skiff trailer is the largest of the Rowing Skiff trailer models we design and build.

Completed for a customer earlier this year, this trailer’s first major journey will be heading south from the North Island all the way down to Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel. There, the school’s teams will compete at the 2026 Maadi Cup, the National Secondary School Rowing Championships.

We built this custom-built Mobility trailer a year ago, designed specifically for transporting Mobility chairs and equipment with maximum safety and ease of use in mind.

This enclosed trailer features an easy-lift rear ramp for effortless loading, a convenient side personnel door and access panel, and a specially made aluminium storage box at the front, purpose-built to securely hold a unique piece of robotic equipment. Inside, you’ll find multiple tie rails to keep everything firmly in place while in transit.

Our customer has told us that using this trailer has been a pleasure and a huge improvement over their previous setup, which was challenging to access and simply not fit for purpose. We’re delighted to have been able to make such a positive difference, and we look forward to supporting more Mobility needs in the community!

This Enclosed trailer that we built 18-months ago, recently came back into our workshop for an additional feature to be installed.

Designed to be truly multi-purpose, its adaptability makes it an excellent choice for a wide range of uses. From various community events and educational outreach days, to native tree planting days, this trailer offers reliable support and practical amenities for many occasions.

Some of its features include:
• 🍔 A pull-out BBQ for easy hospitality at any event
• 📖 A lift-up side door revealing an internal display area for brochures and promotional materials, which also acts as shelter from the sun and rain
• 🌱 A rear lift-up door opening to reveal loads of storage space for equipment, tables, chairs, and all the essentials – and we made them a removable steel box for stashing muddy tools in after a big planting day.

The trailer was wrapped with a vibrant colourful wrap that highlights NZ native flora and fauna, complemented by distinctive murals of the area created by a local artist.

Owing to its versatility and well-considered design, the trailer has apparently become a valuable asset to community groups and members, and we've been told it gets a lot of use, so it's been great to get such positive feedback!
