Drift Wars absolutely delivered.

Big entries, limiter, tyre smoke, close battles and some seriously hard driving all weekend.

Sam threw everything at it and still managed to come away with 4th overall while fighting through car issues along the way.

Plenty of chaos, plenty of smoke, and a whole lot of commitment from everyone out there.

CUSTOMER BUILD FEATURE — 1991 LN106 HILUX

This one is a bit different from the usual builds we feature.

This 1991 LN106 Hilux has had a huge amount of work put into it, with around 80% of the setup being custom-built due to the lack of off-the-shelf performance parts available for the LN platform.

The truck is sitting on a 4-inch lift with 35-inch tyres, paired with ATI Chromies, bar work all round and a custom flat deck.

Other exterior and driveline upgrades include:

4.88 diff gears
Stainless 4-inch snorkel
5x7 Bush Doof headlights
Custom bar work
35-inch tyres
4-inch lift

Under the bonnet is the factory 2.8L 3L diesel, now running a much more serious setup:

Turbo Bits Stage 2 High Flow CT20
Front-mount intercooler
Turbo Bits 38mm 2-bolt external wastegate
Screamer pipe
2.5-inch alloy intercooler piping
GFB electronic boost controller

A lot of the setup has had to be fabricated from scratch, which is what makes builds like this so cool to see come together.

And it’s definitely not finished yet.

Future plans include:

Lockers
KZN130 rear diff
Wide-track front end
High-steer setup
Proper tuning to see how far the little 2.8L can be pushed

We’re keen to see what this thing does once the rest of the setup is finished and it gets some proper tuning into it.

When you realise a TBR G-Series is actually within budget...

Suddenly “wait till I get my money right” sounds less like a dream and more like a plan for next payday.

Plenty of G-Series options, plenty of rear housing choices, and pricing that doesn’t require selling half the car to afford the turbo.
