At this weeks Annual General Meeting, we were proud to induct Rob Roxburgh as a Life Member of the Christchurch Speedway Association.

Rob has dedicated more than 18 years of service to our club, making an incredible impact through two key leadership roles – first leading our Promotions Team and for the past 6 years serving as Club President.

In Promotions, Rob’s strong relationships with other tracks, car owners, competitors and supporters helped transform our events and establish Ruapuna Speedway as one of New Zealand’s premier speedway venues. The success of the promotions team also enabled the club to secure long-term sponsors, providing a strong foundation for the club to grow and flourish.

As President, Rob has led our club through significant change, overseeing continual improvements to our venue alongside an outstanding team of dedicated volunteers. During some of the club’s most challenging times, Rob remained committed to the betterment of Ruapuna Speedway, showing the courage, resilience and leadership needed to guide the club forward. Thanks to that leadership, we continue to go from strength to strength, including being recognised with Speedway New Zealand’s Best Volunteer Run Track award for two consecutive years.

Life Membership is one of the highest honours our club can bestow. It is not simply given – it is earned through years of outstanding service, dedication and commitment. Rob has more than earned this recognition.

Although Rob had originally planned for the 2025–26 season to be his final year as President, the committee recognises the importance of his leadership through several major projects currently underway. Having Rob oversee the completion of these will provide valuable continuity, and we're incredibly grateful that he has agreed to keep leading the club through this exciting period.

Congratulations, Rob and thank you for everything you have done and continue to do, for the Christchurch Speedway Association. Your contribution is truly appreciated and will leave a lasting legacy.

Last night at the 2026 Speedway New Zealand Awards, we were incredibly proud to see our club, members and drivers recognised with several awards, along with a number of finalist nominations 🏆

Ruapuna Speedway was honoured to receive the Community Initiative Award for 'A Night On Us'. Introduced this past season, the initiative gave families facing hardship the opportunity to experience Speedway with a VIP evening. Being able to provide those memorable nights with the support of our incredible volunteers and local charities made it something truly special.

A huge congratulations also goes to club member Joel Myers Jr, who was named Sprintcar Competitor of the Year. An outstanding achievement for Joel and the entire Daniel Anderson Racing team.

Not pictured, since he was also the official photographer of the night, Joe Johnson from Motorsport Files was deservedly recognised as Speedway Photographer of the Year. Congratulations, Joe! 👏

Simply being named a finalist is an achievement in itself, and we were proud to be recognised across a number of categories:

- Voluntary Promoted Speedway of the Year
- Promotional Event of the Year – American Invasion
- Best Media Support – Methanol Madness
- Commentary of the Year – AJ Batt
- Contribution to Speedway – Rob Roxburgh
- Driver finalists: Jackson Clark, Isabella Hendry, Lachy Brett, Jonathan Allard and Brett Booth.

Congratulations to everyone recognised throughout the evening, and thank you to Speedway New Zealand for hosting the event. All eyes forward to the new season now with the CSA AGM coming up on July 28th! 🏁

Happy National Volunteer Week!

This week, we’re taking the time to recognise and celebrate the incredible volunteers who are the backbone of Ruapuna Speedway.

Every event is made possible because of the dedication of our amazing volunteers. With over 60 volunteers turning up every meeting, giving their time and energy to help create the racing experience our competitors and supporters enjoy, we truly couldn’t do what we do without you.

From our officials, gate staff, track crew, announcing team, tower team, class reps, hospitality team and everyone working behind the scenes - every role plays an important part in bringing our events to life.

A special thank you also goes to our committee, who dedicate countless hours every week to planning, organising and improving Ruapuna Speedway. The work that happens behind the scenes throughout the year is what allows us to continue delivering quality events for our club.

Thanks to the passion and commitment of our volunteers, Ruapuna Speedway has proudly been awarded Speedway of the Year – Voluntary Promoted Venue for the past two years in a row. This achievement belongs to every person who has given their time, energy and support to our club.

Our volunteers are more than just a team — they are the heart of Ruapuna Speedway. The friendships, teamwork and community spirit they bring each week are what make our venue so special.

From everyone at Ruapuna Speedway, thank you for everything you do. We appreciate every hour, every helping hand and every contribution you make.

👏 Join us in celebrating and thanking our incredible volunteers!

WINGLESS SPRINT TRACK CHAMPION | Andrew Gregge 🏆

Consistency was the key to success for Andrew Gregge during the 2025–26 season, earning him the Wingless Sprint Track Championship at Ruapuna Speedway.

A feature race victory back in February, combined with several strong top-five finishes throughout the season, saw Andrew build a clear advantage in the standings to secure the title.

Behind him, the battle for the remaining podium positions stayed tight right to the end, with Peter Keith narrowly holding onto 2nd place ahead of Steve Duff Jr in 3rd.

Congratulations Andrew!
