Great weather for roadster cruising at the moment! Here's our latest work on an Austin Healey that has been set up to replicate a rare 100S model. The seats were not only tired and uncomfortable but they needed to be modified to match the 100S (Sebring) model seats that featured 3 vents in the back and a seat base with a simple island insert in the middle.
First we had to have new steel backs fabricated since the old ones were too far gone. Then we welded up the steel bases and made sure they were symmetrically matched and painted them.
Next we made fibre glass rear panels to allow for the design change and set up the fixing holes.
Once all the framing was set up we stripped the base squabs, removed the collapsed foam, tidied up the timber and installed Pirelli webbing straps to give support and built up new foam cushioning on top. The owner tested the ride height and comfort factor before we began the upholstery using a quality marine grade vinyl.
We're stoked that the customer is really happy with the result and keen to get some miles on the odometer!
