Windscreen Repair, things you need to know.
Repairing is the preferred option over replacement when possible. It is far simpler, quicker (typically 30 to 45 minutes, verse 4 to 6 hours for replacement), has less possible complications, no wear and tear on your vehicle and is better for the environment. (If claiming insurance for your repair, simply bring your insurance details with you and we can take care of both your claim and repair in 30 to 45 minutes). No appointment is necessary for chip repairs. If you wish to pay cash, we have Eftpos available.
Not all repairs are equal. Novus is the inventor of crack and chip repair. Our products and methods of repair result in the strongest repairs possible (restoring the structural integrity of your windscreen) and we can repair cracks and chips others cannot!
Only ONE attempt to repair a damaged windscreen can be made. We cannot fix a failed repair, no one can. The only option to fix a failed repair is to replace the windscreen, so come and see us first.
Repairing the windscreen stops the crack / chip from growing, restores the strength of the windscreen, seals the damage to prevent delamination and improves the visual appearance of the damage.
There will always be a scare. Some scares are hard to find (you need to know what to look for), whilst others are more obvious. You have probably been in a friends car that has repairs in the windscreen but not noticed, because you didn't look for them.
Just as chips can crack out whilst driving, they can also crack out whilst being repaired! This is extremely rare, but it can happen. To fix the damage, resins injected into the crack. Some cracks are open and resin easily flows. Other cracks are quite blocked and require techniques to get the resin to flow through the entire crack. Occasionally whilst completing these techniques the crack will grow. (If a repairer doesn't use these techniques, they won't be able to repair the damage).
Repairing windscreens avoids the disassembly of a number of parts of your car that are required for windscreen replacement. This means there won't be any wear and tear on these parts. Also if you have an older car, there could be rust hiding under your windscreen which requires repairing. Rust repairs are typically at your expense (not covered by insurance) and typically take a few days to complete. So repairing can be significantly cheaper and less inconvenient for you too!
