I just posted this on Linked In and hesitated posting it on FB as I thought it’s more “work oriented”.

Then I realised, er nope. It’s life oriented! And so many of my chums are going thru this at the moment.

Seriously this podcast is bloody brilliant. For anyone. But especially those like me thinking what lies ahead and what to do/build/learn to set us up for the next 20 years 😯

Do you ever think about what the next 20 years might look like?

No, me neither. Well, not until my chum Suzanne Sinden recently shared a life changing podcast by The Good Life Project. It focuses on what to do/learn/build intentionally in the next 2 years to set you up for the next 20 (2x20 framework).

🤷‍♀️ Personally, I’ve inwardly scoffed when people have asked me in the past “what’s your 5 year plan”? Ha. Who on earth knows, right?

✍️ But it was eye opening for a number of reasons. So much so, I ended up listening to it 3 times.

💡A key takeaway was this: if I want to live a life of significance, simplicity and joy, I should probably be actively doing / learning / building something now.

⛵️ I’ve just celebrated my one year anniversary of leaving the corporate world, buying a second hand sailing boat (that I called Finding Ikigai). learning how to sail (well, fix stuff more accurately), living at sea (including doing 3 ocean passages) and getting waaaaay more out of my comfort zone than at any other time of my life.

✅ So that’s 1 year of “doing” and “learning” taken care of. On steroids.

👩🏼‍💻Time to pivot to “building” for Year 2.

🤖So when a random meeting on a remote NZ island with an inspiring, multilingual entrepreneur Nickie Jones (also a very talented singer) recently led to discussions about technology, the personalised health tech boom, the launch of a new AI-powered health app (Project Helix 🧬) and how we might partner together, build teams and create new income streams, the word kismet sprung to mind!

🧐 So, if you’re also wondering about what next, do watch the podcast. I’d love to hear what resonated with you.

💰And if you’re also considering leveraged income streams and happen to love tech like I do, let’s talk Project Helix.

Newfound respect for people who do physical manual jobs 💪🏼 We’ve been out “on the hard” in the boatyard for 9 days doing boat projects. Man, who needs the gym?! The adventure continues

💦 haul out started with an industrial water blast to get rid of all the growth on her bottom
🏗️Set up scaffolding to save on labour costs for repair work
🪜balanced on said scaffolding for 15 hours over the weekend cutting, waxing, polishing the hull with industrial sanding machines (certainly makes for an effective upper body workout)
🪡 headsail UV tear repaired
💧 water maker fixed (again) - as i type just found out its broken again 🤬
🐚 scraped off 1000+ shells / barnacles off the bottom
Painted, sanded and antifouled sail drives/part of hull
📡 reconfigured our Raymarine AIS so our new boat name and 🇬🇧 UK flag shows up - outstanding service from Reg at L***y & Blundell in Albany, kindly collecting it from me on a Sunday as I’d injured my knee and returning it via a marina friend to save me the bus journey 😇🙏
🆕 used my trusty hairdryer to remove old name and painstakingly applied new letters
⛵️ had our tricky mainsail halyard and sheath inspected/fixed (🤞🏼)
⚙️ speed guage and wind instruments fixed
🛶Took delivery of our new OC tender and put old one up for sale
💻 boat laptop repaired
🔧Replaced Sail drive anodes
💪🏼 Had 2 amazing young peeps come and help out - and got a mini lesson in galvanic scale in electronegativity from Sonja
🧼 and lots and lots and lots of cleaning 🧽🧹

Hopefully 🤞🏼 that’s it for a while at least so we can get her back out to her - and our - happy place 🌊 😌

After 5 months of living aboard our boat, we reckon Finding Ikigai deserves her own social media identity. Especially as our life is now 24/7 sailing / boatlife and we really have nothing else to talk about 😳 Follow our adventures, challenges, discoveries, tribulations and (daily) learnings as we try our hand at ⛵️🤞🏼
