Purchased in 2001 as a stock standard EVO by driver and owner Raja Bhatti. MRMTZY is a fully street legal vehicle with a current Warrant of Fitness (WOF) and Registration and is backed by the enthusiastic TEAM MRMTZY. MRMTZY has been recognised twice by NZ Performance Car magazine (see our Media Coverage tab)

In 2003, MRMTZY had its first drag meeting and ran a 13.61@156kph quarter mile in stock

trim with a just an HKS exhaust system. After several years of racing, Raja decided in 2007 that it was time to step up to the next level and took it to Edgell Automotive where a fully worked 2.3L engine was built. In 2009, MRMTZY made 315kw@20psi on a run-in tune and ran a 10.64@213kph at the Import All Stars, becoming a member of the NZPC 10 Second Club. After a year of racing in the C1 Turbo 4WD (Street) class, MRMTZY went through a 'quiet' phase where the engine was reworked - this time with larger gudgeon pins, larger intake manifold, custom Garrett turbo along with a dogbox and a few other ‘trade secrets’! On the dyno it made an impressive 527kw@30psi. In November 2012, MR MTZY ran it's official personal best time of 9.96@144 mph. Raja and his team still feel that there is a lot of room for improvement. As like every other drag season the goal is to go faster and try and break deeper into the 9 sec bracket! As every car enthusiast knows, a lot of time and money has been invested into MRMTZY and Raja and his team appreciate your support on and off the track. Behind every success story is a driveline issue, boost problem or a broken part!

Friday Night Speed Drag Wars Update

We took the Evo to the 1st night speed dragwars last night for some testing. The weather was perfect and there was a good turnout of some quick street cars.

We went out to have some fun and seat time and did some exhibition passes. Our quickest time for the night was 10.32@134mph with the car running 1.6-1.7 60ft all night. On a few of the runs we had to back off as the car was sliding around a bit.

The cars been running great lately and we had it weighed last week at the track. The total weight of the car with the driver is 1102 kgs. The car alone weighs 1032 kgs!

There are a couple of things we need to work on but once these are sorted we hope we can drop the times even further.

Thanks to all our friends who came out last night to watch us race and all the people who came and said hi and caught up with us in the pits and not to mention Meremere Dragway for putting up a awesome Fireworks display as always!

Competition Meeting 3

We took our car to the Competition Meeting 3 at Meremere Dragway for some seat time yesterday. The last time we were at the track was back in March 2016 at the Friday Night Speed Dragwars. We have decided to run full MH drag slicks from the previous Hoosier semi slicks which we were running on the car for a few years to drop our 60ft.

We had a total of 4 runs and our times for the day were:

1st run – 12.2@84mph
2nd run – 10.4@150mph
3rd run – 10.3@150mph
4th run – 10.1@146mph

We had a few issues getting off the line with our 60ft being in the high 1.9s. Although we didn’t run any PB, we had a good day testing and are happy with how the car went dead straight and went quicker throughout the day. We have a couple of things to sort out however we are aiming to be at the Friday Night Speed Dragwars on the 17th Feb for some testing.

Hi All - Happy New Year!

Its been a while since our last post. Since our last drag meeting in March 2016 the car has undergone some minor work. We had to upgrade our fuel system as we ended up having some fuel issues with E85. The car is running on Q16 race fuel and the car is roughly about 15 kgs lighter.

We had the car on the dyno yesterday - we had a few boost issues however once these were sorted we managed to make 573kw@31 psi. Our previous power was 530kw@30 psi. We could have pushed the car further however we decided that was enough.

Our mate Suheib aka Bigge's Mitsi Mirage was also on the dyno yesterday after our car. He also managed some impressive numbers making 570kw! Thanks for all your help yesterday! Good luck for the weekend!

Unfortunately we wont be racing at the 4&Rotary Nationals this year as there are a couple of small things which we need to sort out and we also need a tech inspection. However we will be aiming to test the car in a week or so at the upcoming events. Heres hoping we can get the car running well enough to get deep into the 9s.

Good luck to everyone who is competing at the Nationals this year. Hope to see you all at the track soon!

Hey all,

After having a few issues with the car for past few events we finally managed to fix a few things and ended up taking the car to the Night Speed Drag Wars last night for some more testing.
Well it turned out to be a pretty awesome night!

We wanted to make sure the car was running properly for the first couple of runs before we pushed the car a bit further. Our first run was a cruisy 11.8@74 mph and from there on the car went quicker and quicker as the night went on.

In total we had 6 runs and our times for the night were 11.8@74 mph, 10.29@137 mph, 10.26@146 mph, 10.07@143 mph, 9.99@138 mph and 9.94@150 mph!!!

We always knew the car had a lot of potential but when we saw 150MPH! on the timing board we were quite amazed. We ran our Personal Best of 9.94 and our highest ever MPH – not bad considering our semi slicks are now 5 years old and we were running 1.60, 60ft all night long on a track that wasn’t prepped and getting such high MPH. With some fine tuning and improving through our gear changes we are quite confident that we will be able to go a lot faster.

The car is running the same setup from the previous seasons however the car now weighs around 1040 kgs. We are aiming to reduce this to around 1000kgs during the off season along with some full slicks.

Thanks to Shane, Vikky and the Mrmtzy Crew who helped out. It was also good to catch up with Dave who won the C1 class once again, AP and the Autech boys and Ian (DSORDA) – those 2 races were so close and f*cking amazing (weve go the videos so we will upload them this weekend), If everything goes to plan we will be at the final Night Speed Drag Wars. See you all there!

Hey All!

It’s been a very long season off for team MRMTZY however as the 2014/2015 has just kicked off we are almost ready to test our EVO. After sitting out the entire last season due to clutch and gearbox issues we have finally sorted these out and should be back at the track and testing very shortly.

There have been some minor tweaks to the car however the power and overall package remains the same. We will be looking closely at our 60 ft times and trying to reduce these further down into the 1.4’s and hoping to see our car slowly making its way deeper into the 9 second bracket for this season - hoping the new track at meremere dragway and the warmer summer weather does the trick!

Our tech inspection was sorted out tonight and it went through without any issues – thanks to Trevor Williams. If you have not already been onto the new and improved meremere dragway website check it out on http://www.framautolitedragway.co.nz/. There is also a new section on their website with Racer Info. Thanks to Nisa Solipo for adding our evo/racer info. http://www.framautolitedragway.co.nz/driver-profile.html?DrID=20. We will keep our page updated and post when our next drag event is.

Nitro Shootout Update:

The Nitro Shootout over the weekend was an amazing event with such big crowds with some of the quickest cars that you will ever see. Congrats to Fram Autolite Dragway for putting together such a great event and all the racers who competed. Loved the sound of em Nitro cars - it was out of this world!

Sadly for us it wasn't quite the day we wanted. Having fixed the car from the Dragmasters event last weekend, the car now runs a triple plate clutch.

At the Nitro Shootout we ended up staging at the start line however we struck a problem and couldn't get the car moving for the rest of the day. On inspection of the transmission it was found that the input shaft was split into two. We will be trying hard to sort out a new input shaft before the 4&Rotary Nationals (fingers crossed)!
