All day parking is available for customers living or working around Auckland City. In May 2014, Andy Harper Tyres Ltd celebrated twentyfive years at the current location. The experienced staff specializes in tyre service including fitting, balancing, puncture repair and wheel alignment. The opening hours are 7.30 am to 5.30 pm weekdays, and 8 am to 12 or later Saturday.

The move begins... From Tuesday 1 November, Andy Harper Tyres will be at 310 New North Road, Kingsland.

Andy Harper Tyres Ltd trading as Bridgestone Tyre Centre is moving to Fredco Motors, 310 New North Road Kingsland (formerly Automasters, opposite the old Kiwi Bacon Factory).

The last day at 91 Newton Road will be Monday 31st October, and the first day for business at Fredco Motors will be the day after, Tuesday 1 November 2016.

Fredco Motors will open a new Bridgestone Tyre Centre underneath their newly refurbished auto workshop.
Our phone numbers, web site, page, debtor’s schedule and customer database will be transferred at this time.

That is the ‘what’. Want to now more about the ‘why’? Read on.

The land and buildings at 91 Newton Road sold last November, and Andy Harper Tyres Ltd took a twelve-month lease back while the business was marketed for sale. The sale didn’t eventuate, and the new owner has now leased the premises to ProDrive, a golf equipment, clothing and sporting apparel company.

After 27 years at 91 Newton Road, and a further thirteen before that in Karangahape Road, it is time for me to look to the future. I believe that Fredco Motors will continue and develop the business of tyres sales, and I thank our many loyal customers who have been a part of our business over many years.

In 1947, Bob Fielder started a panel and paint shop at 91 Newton Rd. He progressively built a heavy-duty building for truck and bus body building. Over thirty staff were employed. Bob Fielder Panelbeaters is still remembered by some for the advertising slogan 'we meet by accident '. Bob sold the business in the mid 1980's, retired to Tauranga and died in 2006 aged 83. Andy Harper Tyres Ltd trading as Bridgestone Tyre Centre has occupied the premises since then. Bob's son Grant visited last week, and we had a good reminisce , with Grant's memories of growing up filling in the gaps in my knowledge of the site.
