Helpful Tyre safety tips. At Autohaus we are able to assist with all matters relating to tyres and replacement if required.

You should regularly check your tyres to make sure you have plenty of tread.

The minimum legal depth is 1.5 millimetres, but the more tread you have the better the grip and the safer you'll be.

Tread is vital to giving you grip on a wet road. The tread in your tyres moves water on the road as you drive through the water. The less tread you have, the less water the tyre can move, and the more likely you are to aquaplane (lose grip on the wet road and be unable to steer or brake).

Use a tyre tread depth checker or go to a garage and get them to check your tread depth.

You can also look for tread depth indicators in the tyre’s grooves – these usually look like little raised squares or rectangles in the groove (we’ve highlighted an example in the graphic below). The indicators are at 1.5 millimetres. It’s time to change the tyre if it’s worn to the level of the indicator.

Keep your tyres inflated at the pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Tyres naturally lose a little air pressure over time so it's worth checking them monthly. Remember to check any spares as well.

Can you hear your air suspension compressor running more often than usual?

It might seem harmless, but it could be your vehicle telling you something isn't right. Ignoring it can lead to unnecessary wear and a much more expensive repair.

We've put together an article explaining what to listen for and why early diagnosis matters.

NELSON, GET READY — CNC DIAMOND-CUT WHEEL FINISHES ARE COMING

Tag a mate who can’t park. We all know one. 🤣🤣🤣

Auto Candy is bringing premium **CNC diamond-cut mag wheel refurbishment** to Nelson and the wider South Island.

This process is designed to restore that sharp, clean, machined face finish you see on many factory premium wheels — the kind of finish that makes a wheel look crisp, bright and seriously tidy again.

And here’s the exciting part…

🔥 **Auto Candy’s CNC diamond-cut machine will be the only diamond-cut finishing machine in Nelson.** 🔥

That means Nelson vehicle owners, car enthusiasts, dealerships, workshops and the wider South Island will soon have access to a proper local option for high-quality diamond-cut wheel refurbishment.

Perfect for wheels with:
✅ Curb damage
✅ Scratches and scuffs
✅ Corrosion
✅ Dull or tired finishes
✅ Worn factory diamond-cut faces
✅ Wheels that have had one too many “close encounters” with a kerb 😅

If your wheels have been through a rough relationship with the gutter, we may be able to help bring them back to life.

- Coming to Nelson**
- Servicing the South Island**
= Premium CNC diamond-cut finishes**
