Non-Members: $100

Entries close at midnight on Monday, 31 August. Late entries cannot be accepted, as we need to finalise race management, safety planning, and event logistics.

T -2 Wks! RNZYS Barfoot & Thompson Women's Day Out. Boats Needed....

In 2022 we had 5 Young 88s out there doing it and having a great time, and Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) has challenged us to get more out of this year.

Get the women in your family and crew organised, sign the boat on with an owner aboard if required. RNZYS are oversubscribed with crew, so if you don't have a full complement, they will fill the gaps.

Young 88s Rise to the Challenge in Brutal Race 2.
If Race 1 was all about champagne sailing, Race 2 was “survival mode” at the opposite end of the spectrum. With forecasts predicting 25–35 knot south-westerlies, several crews opted to stay ashore......

Quick race report from Young 88 fleet for the Shorthanded Sailing Association of New Zealand Lewmar 100......Gale force winds challenge the two handed fleet.

The Young 88 is a tough boat but not normally sailed in dense cold 25-35kt Sou Westers.

Plenty saw the forecast and decided not to start and another bunch withdrew with various gear failures.

Provisional results give a well earned 1st on line to Skitzo, 2nd Smokey, 3rd Babe. 1st on corrected Smokey smoking their handicap.

Plenty of learnings about heavy weather sail combos and full race report to follow later this week.
