🚗 Driving Tip: Longer Vehicles Need More Space

Longer vehicles like vans, SUVs, and trucks need more space to manoeuvre and stop safely.

👉 Allow extra following distance
👉 Take wider turns when needed
👉 Give yourself more room when changing lanes
👉 Remember: the longer the vehicle, the more space it needs!

Drive smart. Drive safe. 🚗💨

🚗 DRIVING TEST TIP: HAZARD COMMENTARY DRIVING! 👀

During your driving test, hazard commentary can show that you’re actively observing the road and identifying potential risks.

🗣️ What to comment on:
• 🚶 Pedestrians or cyclists near the road
• 🚗 Cars approaching, turning or changing lanes
• 🚦 Intersections, traffic lights and crossings
• 🚙 Parked cars where someone could suddenly step out
• 🏫 School zones and busy areas
• 🛣️ Roadworks, narrow roads or changing road conditions

💡 TIP: Don’t just say what you see — explain the hazard and what you’re doing about it.

For example:
🗣️ “Pedestrian near the crossing, so I’m slowing down and preparing to stop.”

👀 See the hazard. Say the hazard. Take action.

Drive smart, stay alert and show the examiner that you’re thinking ahead! 💯

Be Patient at Traffic Lights!🚦🚗

Green light? Don’t rush! 🙌

Take a moment to:
✅ Check your surroundings
✅ Make sure the traffic ahead is moving
✅ Keep a safe following distance
✅ Stay calm and patient

Remember, getting there safely is more important than getting there quickly. 💛

🚗 Driving Tip: Know When to Merge

Merging is all about timing, awareness, and confidence. 👀

✅ Check your mirrors and blind spot.
✅ Match the speed of traffic.
✅ Signal early to let other drivers know your intention.
✅ Merge smoothly into a safe gap—don’t stop unless it’s absolutely necessary.

Remember: A safe merge keeps traffic flowing and helps prevent accidents. Drive smart, stay calm, and be courteous. 🙌

A “did not pass” isn’t a reflection of who you are as a driver — it’s just feedback. Most learners who don’t pass first time are missing small things: hesitation at roundabouts, observation checks, or just nerves getting the better of them on the day.

That’s exactly where we come in.

At Day n Nite Driver Training, we specialise in helping retry students turn setbacks into passes. Our NZTA-approved instructors will pinpoint exactly what held you back, rebuild your confidence behind the wheel, and get you test-ready — for real this time.

✅ NZTA Approved Driving Instructor
✅ Safe Dual-Control Vehicle
✅ Personalised coaching based on your last test

From “not this time” to “nailed it” — your next chapter starts in the driver’s seat.

🌫️ Driving Tip: Stay Safe on Foggy Roads

Fog can reduce visibility in seconds, so adjust your driving to the conditions.

✅ Reduce your speed and increase your following distance.
✅ Keep your eyes moving and scan the road ahead for hazards.
✅ Stay calm, avoid overtaking, and make smooth steering and braking movements.

Stay patient, stay visible, and always drive to the conditions. 🚗🌫️
