Now that I have a few minutes illl recap the Street Car Shootout.

This was a grest event, bringing out some of the country’s fastest street legal cars from the length and breadth if the country.
There was very stiff contention in each of the classes, with some really close racing.

I big thankyou to Dan Southall, Ross Wheelan, John Lindesay and everyone else that put in the hard yards to make this event happen

Let’s hope this becomes a regular event and that more people bring out their toys and have a crack…..

Well, the car ran really well apart from an electrical gremlin.
The power to the water pump controller kept dropping off which then made the controller turn off……. Which means the water pump stops…… no good !!!!
Luckily I had a back up plan, a permanent 12V plug next to the pump in the engine bay.
Unfortunately it crapped out while I was lined up, so I was trying to explain to my helpers where to find it and how to plug it in, through my helmet while there were cars roaring away in the background.
We got there eventually, but the turmoil put me off my game and I wasn’t focussed when the tree started.
Needless to say it wasn’t my best work….. and another red light is added to my collection…. 😂😂😂
Other than that, the car ran like a Swiss watch.
Even though we still have a heap of timing pulled out I managed some good 60’ times and MPH was good for the ET’s.
So all in all i good day, even if the result for the day was not as planned…….
But that’s racing.

Update after the first outing this season.

After a metric sh1t-ton of effort from a great team over the last few weeks I made it to comp 3 at Napa Autoparts Dragway at Meremere on Saturday.
This was to be a chance to get some shakedown runs in before the Street Car Shootout in February.
After having to rebuild the engine after it prematurely expired, rebuilding the transmission and a few other tweeks I needed to make sure we were all good for Feb.
We pulled a bunch of timing out of the hit for the day, just to make sure the car was going to behave nicely…… I didn’t want a repeat of sitting it on the rear bumper again….😁
After each run we checked the plugs and it all looks perfect.
On the first run there was a minor mishap.
While I was tidying up the engine bay late Friday I must have pulled a bit too hard on the trans breather tube to get it into the clip on the firewall, this ( as I found out on my first run ) pulled the tube out of its connector.
The result, although spectacular, was a very easy fix.
Fortunately only a small amount of trans fluid came out.
After it ran onto the exhaust it looked way worse than it really was.
Thankfully I didn’t mess up the track very much either.
Sorry for making a mess on your track Derek……😔

Very special thanks to:

There has been a bit of radio silence for the last few months.
Time for a wee update.
I broke my left foot back in September, thankfully that’s almost back to normal.
BDASS had an unshcheduled refresh but is now all back together and after a great session on the dyno is raring to go again with another 100 RWHP.
Special thanks to Reece and Dave FFR engines and machining, Terry at Paramount Performance, Mike at NXT LVL and Anthony and Yusuf.
All going well we should be at Meremere comp 3 on the 31st January.

Well it’s official……
IHRA National Super Sedan #1 for the third year in a row.
Congratulations also to all the other class winners and every other competitor in all classes for their love of our sport.
None of that would be possible without the tireless efforts of all the track officials, volunteers and competitors at all the tracks.
Thanks to the photographers for all the wicked pictures and videos you get of all the cars.

Thanks also to my supporters with all their encouragement. It’s quite humbling to know that there is a fan base out there cheering me on.
As usual it was quite a tough series with very close competition, some winning margins in the hundredths of a second.
I look forward to next season and catching up with all the good fullahs…. and fullesses that all make up our amazing motor port community.
