WELCOME: SEE ONE-OFF V12 COACHBUILD × WORK IN PROGRESS RESTOMOD

This September, two very different stages of the coachbuilding process come together at Wheels Mariënwaerdt - Concours d'Elegance.

The Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage, our recently completed one-off V12 coachbuild, returns to the Netherlands after its world premiere at the Royal Automobile Club and Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Alongside it, Norrsken, our Volvo 1800ES Restomod Programme with Autoforma and Volvo Lotte will be shown deliberately as a Work in Progress: sketches, CAD, full-scale modelling, 3D-printed components and the physical development process behind the car.

And there is an unexpected connection between the two projects.

The Volvo 1800ES was one of the inspirations for the original 1972 Ferrari Daytona Shooting Brake. We discussed the history directly with Mr. Chinetti, the initiator of that legendary coachbuilt Ferrari.

More than five decades later, the two stories meet again.

The Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage is the one-off V12 coachbuilding project by Niels van Roij Design.

Designed around the idea of what a the legendary 1972 car could have become today, with a completely new roofline, hand-formed aluminium bodywork and a thoroughly reworked front and interior.

Silver Spectre Shooting Brake

For those who recently joined us following the launch of our Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage, we’d like to revisit another of our coachbuilding projects: Silver Spectre Shooting Brake.

Our Silver Spectre Shooting Brake was created as a dramatic, one-off interpretation of the grand touring shooting brake, combining sculptural coachbuilding with the effortless character of a British luxury car.

Its extended silhouette, hand-crafted carbon-fibre roof, bespoke glazing, deeply sculpted rear and unique infinity starlight headliner were all designed around one idea to create something that could never have existed in standard form.

And today, Silver Spectre is exactly where we believe a coachbuilt car should be: on the road. Its current owner, Mr Franchitti, genuinely drives the car and takes it everywhere, rather than keeping it hidden away as a static collector piece. That is something we love to see.

It also represents an important part of the philosophy at Niels van Roij Design: our coachbuilt cars are created to be driven, experienced, travelled in and enjoyed.

Still images tell one story. Motion tells another.

Next month, the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage will enter a new chapter as selected automotive media experience the car behind the wheel, on film.

Until then, a few more frames from our official shoot.

More to come.

For those who are new here, after the launch of the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage, we have a particular love for shooting brakes.

So do our clients.

There is something inherently special about combining the elegance of a grand tourer with the usability of an estate, and getting the proportions exactly right.

Henry II was one expression of that and the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage is the latest.

Some shapes only reveal their true character when light moves across them.

Every surface of the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage was developed to create tension, precision and visual calm from every angle. Hand-formed aluminium, uncompromising proportions and thousands of hours of craftsmanship come together in a contemporary coachbuilt grand tourer.

A singular expression of what coachbuilding can be today.

See the film: Five days. Three extraordinary cars. One unforgettable journey.

From the drive to the UK, to filming with international media, the world premiere of the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage at the Royal Automobile Club's Woodcote Park, and finally the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

We brought the Bentley Continental R future project along too, while one of our clients drove the Breadvan Hommage all the way from Munich to join the celebrations.

Welcome to everyone who has recently joined us after the launch of the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage.

If you're new here, this is Adventum Coupe, our one-off, coachbuilt grand tourer.

Every surface, proportion and detail between front fender and taillight is redesigned from the ground up to create an automobile that could have existed, but never did.

Adventum Coupe reflects our belief that true luxury lies in individuality: one unique automobile, handcrafted over thousands of hours.

This is contemporary coachbuilding. Which detail catches your eye first?

The more you look, the more the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage reveals.

Every line, every surface and every detail has been carefully considered. From the hand-formed aluminium bodywork to the bespoke interior, there are countless subtle touches waiting to be discovered.

Some details are obvious. The best ones are not. Enjoy this series of images and let us know what you find.
