The biggest change in the last years was the way WTJ Trading started working with stock and risk.

During the Corona period, the market shifted fast. Scarcity began to appear and availability became unpredictable. We decided to take more responsibility on the buying side by holding stock and being ready when demand came in.

That approach proved to be the right move. 2022 became our strongest year. Not because it was easy, but because we acted early while the market was changing.

That period taught us a simple lesson. When everyone is waiting, the ones who move with conviction are the ones who win.

The first cars traded through WTJ were not some flashy headline deal. It started with a combination deal.

A few Toyotas from a customer already known in the network. At the same time, a shipment of Range Rovers going to China. It was not one straight line. It was a mix of opportunities that came together because of one thing: relationships.

That first deal was a real step. Not because it was perfect, but because it proved something. When you know the right people, keep your word, and handle things properly, doors start to open. Still, it took a run-up. Nothing came overnight.

Looking back, that deal was the start of everything that followed. The first proof that a network can turn into real business.

The start in the car world was not glamorous at all. No big office, no big deals. Just work. Picking up cars, delivering them, handling paperwork, transferring plates the old-fashioned way. Back then there was no system that made it easy.

But that was the best school possible. That is where you learn how the trade really works. You learn that timing matters. You learn that trust is not something you talk about, it is something you earn.

Sales came later, and that became the part we still value most. Talking to people, understanding what they actually need, and recognising when something is serious. Over time you start to see patterns. What moves fast, what sits, and which deals need action today, not next week.

A while ago, a company from abroad approached us with a simple request. They wanted to buy a car located in the Netherlands.

The deal itself was not the problem. The problem was everything around it. The seller was happy to sell the car, but did not want to export it. No paperwork, no logistics, no involvement. Just a local sale.

It started earlier than most people think. Even when Wim was still in school, cars were already on his mind. He explored other branches, but always came back to the same place. Cars were there from the beginning.

WTJ Trading did not start with big deals either. It started with the basics. Helping out wherever possible. Picking up cars. Driving them to where they needed to go. Handling registration transfers back when nothing was digital. That kind of work teaches the trade the real way. Responsibility, timing, and the simple truth that your word matters.

Over time, the work moved into sales and into building relationships with people. First at a trader, then at a Mercedes dealer, and later at Van Vliet. Loyalty to the companies he worked for played a big role, and those years built the foundation.
