PAL-V brings two new dimensions to the world of mobility. One is the spatial dimension of being able to use the sky, getting to your destination faster, without traffic jams. The second is the whole experience around drive & fly; providing advice, support, added services. Not only for private owners; also for first responders and other essential services to whom it will bring new possibilities. 

We are the first in the world to introduce flying cars. They are a dream come true. But as a company, we are not in the dream business. Our drive is to innovate mobility. It is our mission to create a mobility infrastructure in which flying cars and connected service concepts can be a commodity, available for everyone to use, like a taxi or public transport.

A Royal Moment: Dutch King experiencing FlyDrive mobility

PAL‑V was honoured to attend the prestigious FME 75th anniversary event, where PAL-V was one of the three nominees for the Peter Wennink Tech Award. During the event, His Majesty King Willem‑Alexander paid a visit and took the time to get a better understanding of PAL-V’s FlyDrive mobility solutions, highlighting the importance of innovation within the Dutch technology sector.

Being nominated for the Peter Wennink Tech Award was a true honour. We are pleased with the recognition as a key strategic OEM for the future of the Netherlands. In the spotlight: Tom Willemse!

Tom has been part of the PAL‑V team for over six years and is currently a Lead Engineer in the Electrical team. Reflecting on his journey, Tom shares: “When I started at PAL-V as an Engineer, I was mainly focused on building test setups and working on our prototype vehicle as part of the Electrical team. Later, I became more involved leading the team, playing an essential role in pushing our engineering efforts forward.”

Today, Tom’s work is more crucial than ever, as we approach the final stages of the certification process: “I’m focused on the final engineering stages: analyses, safety verification, and extensive validations to ensure our systems meet the highest aviation standards.”

According to Tom, what makes PAL‑V a unique workplace is the atmosphere and accessibility of the team: “It’s great that our headquarters still has an informal atmosphere. You can easily approach anyone and get help when needed. It makes it easy to connect with other teams and collaborate with them. It’s also nice that the vehicle is always close by.”

With his dedication and expertise, Tom plays a vital role in ensuring that PAL‑V completes the final certification steps, bringing FlyDrive mobility closer to reality.

The RDW, the Netherlands Vehicle Authority, has officially certified PAL-V as an automotive manufacturer. This approval enables us to produce type-certified, road-legal vehicles at our manufacturing facility in the Netherlands in accordance with European automotive standards, an essential step towards production of our FlyDrive mobility solution, the PAL-V Liberty.

This milestone marks significant progress towards bringing PAL-V’s FlyDrive platform to governmental, professional, and private customers worldwide. By combining driving and flying in one vehicle, we unlock new levels of operational efficiency: saving time, reducing costs, and enabling safer, more effective mobility.

Over the past months, Lisa, Twan, Geert and Jeppe completed their internships at PAL-V and successfully wrapped up their assignments.

To mark this, we organized an internal internship fair, where they presented their projects and shared their experiences with colleagues. A great moment to exchange knowledge, reflect on their work, and learn from each other.

In 2012, we successfully completed our proof-of-concept phase. A milestone that went far beyond a simple test. It was a high-tech validation of our core FlyDrive technology and the vision of a new form of mobility behind it.

This achievement laid the technological foundation for everything that followed: extensive R&D programs, continuous refinement, and ultimately our ongoing certification journey. Each step builds on that early proof that driving and flying can truly come together in one vehicle.
