Even the very first Volkswagen Golf GTI had a predecessor 😍

As early as 1972, Volkswagen built a small series of sporty versions based on the Volkswagen 1303 S. One look at this model and you immediately understand its playful nickname: Gelb Schwarzer Renner (GSR) – or “Yellow Black Racer.”

With its striking yellow paint, black hood, and sporty details, it was a true head-turner. A unique appearance that paved the way for what would later become the legendary GTI line. Limited in production, big in character.
