*Subject: URGENT REMINDER ON IMPLEMENTATION OF ₦250,000 MINIMUM WAGE AND 8 MONTHS ARREARS BEFORE 10TH AUGUST 2026 DEADLINE*
Sir,
We write to respectfully remind the Committee of the urgency and importance of its mandate as contained in your Convening Order dated 20th July 2026, with submission deadline of 10th August 2026.
*OUR GROUNDS:*
1. THE LAW IS CLEAR* The National Assembly passed the Bill for upward review of military salaries in October 2025. Mr President assented to it in November 2025. The approved minimum pay for the least soldier is *₦250,000* with provision for *3 months arrears* from date of assent.
2. *THE MONEY IS BUDGETED*
According to the 2026 Appropriation, *₦2.392 TRILLION* was appropriated under PERSONNEL VOTE for salaries, pensions and allowances.
It is public knowledge that the *₦250,000 minimum wage and 8 months arrears were COMPUTED AND INCLUDED* in this ₦2.392tn.
Army Personnel Vote alone is *₦1.504 TRILLION*.
Therefore, the argument of "no funds" is not tenable.
3. *DHQ HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE FACTS*
On 13th July 2026, the 5 Senior Generals representing CDS at the veterans retreat accepted that the documentary evidence presented by veterans were facts.
This led to the formation of this Committee on 20th July 2026.
*OUR DEMAND:*
In view of the above, we respectfully request that the Committee in its report to the CDS recommends:
a. *Immediate implementation of ₦250,000 minimum wage* for all serving personnel
b. *Payment of 8 months arrears* from Nov 2025 to June 2026
c. *Alignment of veterans' pensions* with the new salary structure
