Dr Meenesh C Shah, Chairman, NDDB, met Dr Abdurrahaman Salim Lawal, Hon’ble Commissioner (Minister), Ministry of Livestock Development, Jigawa State, Nigeria, during his visit to NDDB, Anand, to discuss collaboration for dairy sector development in Jigawa State. The meeting was attended by Ms Aisha Sheikh Mujaddadi , DG, Investment; Shri Chandrashekhar Dhulipudi, CEO, Naturell Dairy; MD, NDDB Dairy Services ; MD, IDMC Limited; and senior NDDB officials.
Dr Shah recalled the visit of H.E. Malam Umar Namadi, Hon’ble Governor of Jigawa State, to NDDB, Anand, following which an NDDB delegation visited Jigawa State to assess the livestock sector and explore dairy development opportunities. He highlighted the relevance of India’s cooperative dairy model for Jigawa State and proposed identifying short- and long-term collaboration areas for early interventions. He also briefed the delegation on NDDB and its subsidiaries’ work in dairy equipment, high genetic germplasm, vaccines, animal health and technical interventions.
The Hon’ble Commissioner appreciated NDDB’s support and stressed the need for a structured and sustainable dairy sector in Jigawa State. He expressed interest in collaboration in areas such as genetic improvement, establishment of a semen station, strengthening artificial insemination services, training of dairy personnel, digitisation of the dairy value chain and implementation of household-level biogas models.
Chairman, NDDB reaffirmed NDDB’s commitment to supporting countries with similar smallholder dairy systems and noted the agro-climatic and livestock similarities between India and Nigeria. During the visit, the delegation toured NDDB’s Genomics & OPU-IVF Lab, IDMC Limited, Sabarmati Ashram Gaushala at Bidaj, Amul Dairy & Tribhuvandas Food Complex, and will also visit NDDB CALF Limited and Mujkuva Village. fans Naturell cow milk products Chandrasekhar Dhulipudi Saifullahi Umar
