π§ BMW F10 520i N20 β White Smoke During Cold Start
This BMW F10 520i came in for a routine engine oil change, using TorQe 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil.
But the owner also had another concern β white smoke coming from the exhaust during cold start.
π We carried out further inspection to trace the source and found that engine oil was entering the turbocharger through the turbo feeder hose while the vehicle was parked overnight.
When the engine was started the next morning, the accumulated oil was being drawn through and burned, resulting in the noticeable smoke during cold start.
π οΈ Repair carried out:
β
Replaced turbo feeder hose
β
Engine oil changed with TorQe 5W-30 Fully Synthetic
β
Checked turbo system
β
Cold-start operation verified
After the repair, the white smoke issue was resolved and the engine was back to normal.
π‘ White smoke during startup doesn't always mean an engine overhaul is needed. Finding where the oil is coming from is the first step.
