In a few simple steps you could prevent your windows from fogging by using a potato.

1. Make sure your car is clean and dry.
2. Cut a potato in half.
3. Rub the exposed part of the potato on your windshield.
4. Profit.

The starch of the potato should provide similar hydrophobic effect like you've done window coating.
