One of the most common things we hear from car owners is:
"I just serviced my car." π
Today, a Proton came into our workshop (our neighbour's car).
The moment we opened the engine...
Walao... the engine oil had turned into thick black sludge. π³
I asked the owner,
"When was your last service?"
He confidently replied,
"Not that long ago. The invoice is still in the glove box."
So I checked...
π Service Invoice: 2024
Last serviced: 34,000 km
Current mileage: 82,000 km
That means this car has travelled over 40,000 km without an engine oil change. π€―
Honestly... it's impressive that the engine was still running.
The owner was short on time and had a limited budget, so instead of recommending an expensive teardown, we chose the most practical solution.
We spent half a day performing the most cost-effective engine cleaning possible:
β
Cleaned the sludge inside the engine
β
Removed and thoroughly cleaned the oil sump
β
Refilled it with fresh engine oil
It's not a miracle fix, but it's the best approach for the owner's situation, giving the engine a much better chance to keep running reliably.
Sometimes, good repairs aren't about choosing the most expensive option.
They're about finding the right solution for the customer's needs.
And here's a friendly reminder:
Don't rely on memory when it comes to servicing your car.
Check your mileage. Check your service records.
Your engine will thank you for it. π
