Five o'clock the breeze comes up and everybody ends up out here. Nobody goes back inside. Thats the part a hotel room cant do, your own terrace and your own grill, with the whole golf community out the front door.

Sunset Beach is the one everybody photographs and nobody swims. Pacific side, red flags most days. Our guests figure that out day one, then head over to Chileno or Medano. Where do you actually get in the water down here?

Two hotel rooms, or one condo?

A terrace like this one, a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, room for everyone to sit down together, and access to the resort pools and beach club. Late afternoon on the terrace, and nobody's in a hurry.

This is Copala at Quivira — three pools, the clubhouse, and the golf course a cart ride away. We manage the homes here ourselves, so when you book direct you're talking to the owner, not a call centre.

Mid-August has openings, and we've just dropped the minimum stay to two nights — so a long weekend works now.
