Volvo Penta wins Technical Development of the Year 🏆

Volvo Penta has been awarded Technical Development of the Year at the Motor Boat Awards 2026 for its Hybrid Electric IPS propulsion.

The award was presented on 20 January at the Düsseldorf Boat Show, where judges highlighted the system’s combination of forward-facing IPS efficiency, joystick-controlled handling and compact hybrid electric design – delivering cleaner, quieter operation and an improved onboard experience.

Launching in 2026, Volvo Penta’s fully integrated Hybrid Electric IPS is the first step in a wider roadmap that will see hybrid electric and fully electric IPS solutions introduced for both yacht and commercial marine applications in the years ahead.

This recognition also further reinforces Volvo Penta’s position at the forefront of marine technology innovation.
