over the past few days, local protests and traffic disruptions have occurred in certain parts of Mauritius. The authorities are addressing the situation, and calm has reportedly been restored.

Tourism services are operating normally:

* The international airport is operational, and flights are currently reported to be running as scheduled.
* Hotels, resorts, excursions and tourist activities remain open and operational.
* Transfers and other tourism services are continuing as planned.

We recommend avoiding demonstrations and large public gatherings, keeping up to date with official information, and checking for any changes before setting off on an excursion.

💳 Credit/Debit Card
Cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, petrol stations and tourist attractions.

📱 Phone/Smartwatch Payments
They may not work everywhere. We recommend carrying a physical card as a backup.

💵 Cash
It’s useful to have some Mauritian Rupees (MUR) with you, especially for:
• markets and street stalls
• local vendors
• buses
• small snack bars and restaurants
• small purchases and souvenirs

💶 Euros & US Dollars
Some places may accept them, but the exchange rate is often less favourable. For everyday payments, MUR is usually the better option.
